Ractive heat shield conical filter on Ebay intake?

I saw this at Circuit City:

Ractive Heat Shield Filter

Since the "Pep Boys" guys tried to guide me to something in their "Performance" section when I tried to ask about a replacement filter for my Ebay (BOMZ) intake, and had no clue on K&N...any thoughts on this filter instead?

Eh, I'd still just go with a K&N. The heat sheild will get heat-soaked eventually anyway.

I have one of those and the heat shield always stays cool to the touch as long as there is air being drawn through it. mine is just on there, though, until I can save up for the Injen CAI.

So, buying this intake may effectively make a plain old Ebay intake to a Ractive one?

I almost bought an Injen (black coated for $205 shipped), but am too worried about hydro-lock...much snow and rain up here...

I would get the Injen one regardless. No one has ever had one hydrolock and you can always get the bypass for a little extra money. I would confirm the diameters on the two filters to make sure that the Ractive filter will work, but I'm pretty sure that they are the same.

Yeah...I already have the Ebay one...can't justify the Injen CAI price (for the modest gains over the Ebay intake (if any).
