Raced a Prelude Today

So I'm stopped at a red light and a red 2001 Honda Prelude pulls up beside me and the girl inside got my attention and kinda gave me the chin up, 'Wanna race?' gesture. Of course I nodded in approval and the light changed and we were off. The road we were driving on was quite curvy with a lot of road between lights. She took me coming off the line and kept half a car length ahead of me for a bit.......until we hit the curves. I couldn't help but have a Cheshire grin on my face as my MP3 blazed through the curves without a thought at over 70 mph. She really ate it big time :)

hmmmmm thats suprizing because that prelude should have given you a proper wopin' in the straght. maybe it was because she was a girl or the fact that she was driving a car that doesn't exsist hehe jbyb. Never under estamate the mp3!

ACtually, there's a huge difference between the automatic Preludes, and the manuals. Some mags list the auto as almost 1.5 seconds slower. I used to own a 97 manual, and the difference in speed is unreal. Killer is, I can't remember what they call it it now for the life of me ( that automatic that's lets you shift gears yourself), it makes it seem that it's really quick, but it's not. But ediotic people think their actually moving faster then the manual because it "feels" like it. than MP3 could actually take it easily if driven right.

Let us not forget though, that the 97 and up prelude, got some of the most awards for best handling as well. Driven right, a manual lude is a damn fine car. I really miss mine, wish they'd make more.

Great kill story....as usual our cars are just one of the best ones on the road when it comes to the twisties. When I see a curving road, I always get a smile on my face!

My question is why in the blue hell did she beat u off the line she is running an automagic and u are running a clutch . Clutches will always beat a automagic off the line. Damn dude u must be a horrible driver I have already ran away from a Prelude. U need to practice more on the proper rpm and how to drop the clutch

I don't know what your talking about. An auto will shift better then a human will ever do. NOW the only thing is how is the auto set up. some autos are set up for comfort and shift softly. other are cars set up for racing and shift hard and fast. so an Auto that is set up right will beat a person with a manual most of the time!

Bro, you're not listening to what I said. A Prelude is not gonna have a race clutch in it. It's just a standard piece of crap automatic. Seriously if a car with a automatic in it and both cars have the same HP the manual will win unless the person with the manual has realy slow feet and hands to change gears. Like I said I've already beaten a Prelude heads up street racin. By the way I do know the difference between race automatic's and standard automatics that come in US cars

I don't know about you but i know people that build race cars. and the people say and i agree is that an auto trany that is set up right will beat if not all but most people racing. that is because i don't care who you are and what kinda of shift you are but an auto will shift perfectly every time and will shift at the perfect RPMs. This is only if the car is set up right. i'm not trying to flame hear but an auto with a full race trany and proper RPM shifting would kill any one driving manual hands down!

I totally agree with u in that aspect. A RACE clutch will beat a manual but once again a Prelude will not have a race clutch
