Go to your local Law school and talk with someone, They actually have people sometimes graduating seniors sometimes actual faculty that are willing to take cases for free, either to build up experience, or to use the case as a teaching tool. Either way someone will take the case, or atleast give you some counsel.
Sorry about your car. This is a mess as the shop owner should of had Garagekeepers insurance with a limit high enough to protect the owners of all cars that are now totaled. Even if you had comprehensive coverage you would have a fight on your hands as the car was in the care, custody and control of the shop and not you. The building owner was not responsible for the fire or the tenants property, no liability there. Your legal issue is with the shop. Good luck.
WHOA! Sorry for what happened. It pains me to see a nice MSP go the way yours went. Good luck with all that other cr*p you have to go through. Hope everything turns out good for you.
This is exactly the type of happenstance ass fuckery that leaving my car anywhere to have anyone else do anything to just scares the bejeezus outta me...even with proper insurance. Horrible horrible bulls***! Very unfitting demise to such a nice car. Hopefully this door slammin the **** shut like it did opens up another that makes up for it. Good luck with all the swirling mess surrounding the shop's lack of insurance. Sounds like the landlord paid off the fire marshall to divert attention away from him not being properly covered like he should have been. Slander law suit for your buddy FTW!
damn man just read the whole thread, that's a pretty bad situation. but hey from past experiences lawyers when taking on cases similar to this will, at times, operate on a "contingency fee contract" meaning they get X% of what you get. i'm sure your buddy is looking into it but if not you should mention it. Sounds like that case could go pretty high. Maybe you should get a little extra for the hastle......you know it's the american way. Good luck.
in california there was a small town that went without power for a month a few years back because some tourist sued it after tripping over a piece of sidewalk that was slightly higher than the rest and broke their ankle...
you can get away with anything, just gotta actually take it to court lol
