Quick question for you all. should I be concerned?

Hey. So occasionally (not often enough for me to be freaking out) when I warm the car up in the morning after about a minute the rpms go way down enough that the car stalls. Should I be concerned about this?

I have a short ram intake (that's the only modification that I can think might be affecting this, and yes, I did allow the cpu to reset) if it matters at all.

thanks for the info guys,
Mike

any cel's? could be running to lean or rich (which ever applies to this situation lol)

no CELs...what is lean and rich?

BTW, this used to happen just a little more frequently (again, not nearly enough for me to loose any sleep over...just a few times) when out of gear for a while about half a year ago and then went away before I had my intake.

How long ago did you do the intake? Sounds like it could be a vac leak. Too lean and too rich isnt the problem it would be a symptom.

I put the intake in maybe 2 months ago? this happened maybe 2 or three times last year and only once I believe since the intake. do you think this could be affecting it: the air breather hose sits in the intake at an angle rather than straight on.

It has not happened at stop lights. It happened this morning while warming the car up, and half a year ago as I was idling to a stop sign I saw the rpms bob and I gave it some gas before it could stall, and about 3 min after the stop sign incident, I was idling into a parking spot and it stalled....those are the only instances that this issue has occurred to my recollection.

My money is on minor vac leak unrelated to the intake. Grab some brake cleaner and spray around the intake manifold and anywhere else you see vac lines. If your RPM's fluctuate while you are doing it then you found your leak.

Remember do this after the car has warmed up and your idle is consistant.

This is what I would start off doing.

alright. thanks. is there a list of where I can find the vac lines? also, if there is a leak, how would I go about fixing it? replacing the line? I suppose I could search and find the answer, but I figured I'd just ask here. also, is this a major issue/is there any damage done to the car or can be caused to the car from this?

thanks again,
Mike

The car wont be damaged and typically its going to be a bad vac line so all you would do is replace the line. I dont have a map of vac line in your car but just be sure to look around and see where they are.

If your car is a mazdaspeed then make sure you spray around the intercooler end tanks incase there is a leak there
