I had the same problem on my Nissan 350z, it was a 2005, under 36000 miles and the condensor went out by a rock, it wasn't covered by nissan. I dont see why, if you have bumper to bumper warranty itxs a part that broke, tho it was cuases by wear and tear/driving so that I guess is there resoning for not covering it. Sorry about your loss man.
What I did was went on ebay, bought a condensor ($150 shipped) and paid the dealership $300 for removal/installation AND recharging of the system.
You might have to search for a condensor and see if ones on the regular 3 fits our car also. Probably can find a new or refurbished one on ebay for less than $200 shipped. I know you've done great work on your car so you're probably mechanically inclined to install it, and just have the dealership reconnect/oil the fittings and recharge it for like $150
