Hi all, Just new to the forum. I've been lerking for some time now, taking in as much as possible because I have been in search of a MSP. Well I picked one up on wednesday but I have a slight issue. The pervious owner hacked off the muffler and welded a crapy fart can on thier. Now I do Like a loud obnoxious car from time to time but this is also my summer DD so its got to go. I got an exhuast in mind but not 100% sure if it BOLTS right up to the MSP. ca you guys confirm for me please id liek to order this as soon as possible.

oh also do you guys know of any places online that i could get this from other than the dealer.

PS im in canada

Here is the exhaust i want...My buddy had it on his P5 and i loved it.

oh i might as well throw in the question. do the regular protege sedan cat backs bolt up to the MSP J pipe (i believe it's called) ?

It should bolt right up, there may be a couple stock MSP exhausts for sale on here.. you may just need the axleback replaced to get it back to the stock condition. Are the cats still there? Removing those will give you the sound, the brand/type of exhaust will give you a varying tone.

That pic is a P5, it will bolt up but it will be sticking out more because the Protege5 is longer. Look around for someone who has a axelback stock. Thats what I did, when I got my car my exhaust was cut off and a rice can attached, but I got it all fixed up.

mazda makes that axleback for p5's and sedans, make sure you get the one for the sedan

seems everybody has some sort of sig (realize this is no way helping the original poster) but i just have a big space under my posts...seems like a waste.

oh an yea outlaw did know what you meant lol just being a jerk lol

ok so that pretty much confirmed my questions. I knew there was a length difference but just wanted to make sure that it bolts up.
Just a few more little questions. does anyone know the pipe sizing on that exhuast oh and what is it. its just a madza accessory/ mazdaspeed sport exhuast correct?
know where I could get it. would protege garage have that?

that is just the mazdaspeed exhaust.... protegegarage, if they dont carry it, can get it. But you could just post int he f/s forum about wtb the stock axle back and you can get one that way. I dont know the size though.

If your going to replacing the exhaust why go with stock???? 1. it's very expensive unless found used and 2. A aftermarket replacment could be almost as quite and still get horsepower gains for less money.
Look for a Corksport catback, or something similar in the for sale section I don't see why you couldn't find a nice set-up for under $200. I just don't see the point in spending money on replacing something to stock, unless your building a classic (wink)
