Question on Intakes

I am planning to get an intake on my MP3 and my friend told me that instead to payinh few hundreds on AEM short ram or INJEN CAI, just buy a custom intake, keep the tube and change the filter to Greddy or HKS, and it's even better and cheaper, is the true?

Is AEM Short Ram perform better than CAI, coz someone told me that AEM short RAM is better than CAI for Proteges.

go to your local speed shop. it can be cheaper depending on the shop, how many peices they use, what filters, ect. Rember if you get a custom made you can get it out of 3'' all the way, if you get the Injen it is made of 2 1/2''

well if I buying the AEM short ram and Injen CAI, they will give me the pieces which came by the company originally.

I'm asking if I buy a custom intake then change the filter to Greddy or HKS filter and they will performe better than those AEM and Injen CAI.

You mean that if I can get a 3' tube and a good filter, i better go this way?

YOU DO NOT want to do this....it will decrease the speed of the air to much....don't increase the size of the tube....ensure its the same size as your MAF. and leave it that way.....or you will be sorry....its been tried. it didn't work.

thanks man, i new you could step up if you had custom made but i never looked into it because i never wanted to get one so i didnt know what kind ao efects it would make. so you know this because someone has tried it and it suck big ones?

RM Racing sells a CAI that I have on my P5. It's not cheaper than the Injen or the AEM, but I think it's a bit better if you plan on spending the money. Here's the thread where we discussed the intake's "value"

I have a custom intake for $90 shipped. A lot cheaper than injen and such. But if you want an AEM intake, I have one for sale for $150. Thats $50 cheaper than www.nopionline.com.
