2002 MP5
I've got a manual 2002 MP5 that needs an engine. Is there a difference between an automatic trans engine and a manual trans engine. Can I pull any 2.0 engine and mate my 5 speed transmission? What is a good price for a low mileage engine USD? Also, since I'll have the engine out, what are some good options for engines other than FS-DE/DET/ZE? Best Clutch kit flywheel combo for decent price?

Thanks much!

KL-ZE is a swap you can do. As for the FS, you can go with a ZE or get a DE with ZE internals. If you're getting just the motor, I believe all that is different is the internals where the tranny mounts up. Just get a manual one to be safe. And as for price, I'm not sure but it also depends on where it's from, how many miles is on it, and what motor you ultimately wanna get.

Motors are all the same. Only options are the fsze which people have issues with or a kl. all 01-03 fsde are the exact same

A lot of people like the exedy stage 1 clutch

If I do the exedy stage 1 or 2 with the fidanza flywheel, will I have to balance and what is the procedure? Looked around a bit but thus far haven't found a for sure answer :-/

Went with Spec stage 2, had good results with a stage one in my FD Ls1 so I figure a Spec stage 2 should handle anything I can throw at it. I also picked up the Fidanza billet flywheel and an SS clutch hose. Just gotta find an engine. Gonna go with the original and just swap it for another one but add the delight of some low to mid boost levels. Probably turbo but I've always wanted to try out supercharging.

A low mile motor from valve cover to oil pan should be no more than 1G

More likely to find a good one for $600.00

You won't get nearly as much power from a super charger, and they're more expensive with our cars. You can turbo for under $1,000

If you already have the motor out I would advise you to go ahead and get forged rods. Mazda decided to use leftover no.2 pencils for sol tests that kids throw away for some reason. Unless you plan in keeping it under 10 psi

Supercharger can be fitted up, ask ajkulish. He only runs around 3 or 4psi but it's still boosting. He's got a thread on it

Cool, I'll check out ajkulish's deal. Yeah, stupidchargers always seem to cost more in most cases, just never gone that direction so I'm leaving the idea open. I don't think I'll be boosting over ten pounds unless I get a boost spike. Probably keep the old engine for a rebuild, could put forged in that one :-) for when this one goes, if it does, I donno.
