'04 MZ3 S Hatch-Traded her 11/16/07 For '07 Tundra 5.7L
I am contemplating trading in my '04 Mazda3 for a '07 Speed3 and my question is, how much do you like your Speed3? Is it modification friendly? And what are you paying for maintenance? Thanks in advance for any responses.

i love mine! no problems as of yet. and hte few problems that others do seem to have are easily correctable and mazda seems to be honoring there warranty. I am not paying anything for maintence. nothings gone wrong so far for me! i say go for it!!

That's exactly what I did and don't regret it at all. The premium gas is a little more and the insurance was a few bucks more a year (expected, it's a newer car) but the one thing I can't figure out....

....what took Mazda so long to produce this car. It AWESOME!!!(cabpatch)

I love mine, insurance is $82.00 a month for me. I traded in my 2007 Civic Si sedan for it and don't regret it at all. I'm 32 years old with a 6 year old son and it fits my lifestyle and personality perfect.

I heart mine. It's such a blast to drive.
I wouldn't trade for the world:)

Have you driven one yet??

I love mine. I'm nearing 600 miles without a hitch. Insurance is cheap ~66 a month and it goes like a bat out of hell. I surprised the s*** out of a guy in a camaro yesterday heh.

I have had no problems with the car that could remotely be considered warranty (paint scratches from a lube tech:mad: ). Car has just over 6K after an out of town run this weekend.

As for maintenance it's still hard to tell. The plugs are nothing off the charts, oil is 6 qts @ $3+/qt and add filter. I had an issue with the brakes and was quoted $120 for front break pads (OEM, dealer part), tires may be expenssive, I've been looking in to a set for track days. Other than that I have not had to check prices on anything.

It much better then the 3 other cars we have been driving lately. My wife like it on longer drives over the SRT4 and so far it seems very mod friendly. Fairly easy to get to 300 WHP (soon to be on the dyno to confirm) and the maitinence doesn't seem to be much more then any regular car. Hope this helps.

I have had mine for 6 months or so and it just turned 5000 miles... I have autocrossed it, driven it daily, and taken it on a couple of trips. This car kicks ass. Plain and simple. No problems whatsoever (I can't say the same for my MS6), It hauls the mail, and sticks like glue.

If you have the means to do so, you shouldn't even ask the question.

Just do it.

And you WON'T be sorry.

Thanks for the info guys. I still have some things to figure out. I think insurance is going to kill me. I'm only 20 but I am accident and ticket free. And gas would also put a dent in my wallet if it doesn't go down anytime soon. Thanks again!

I'm 20, and came from a 95 Civic. I picked up Comp/Collision and moved my deductibles from $500 to $1000, and my insurance went down about $40/6months. My mom wants me to have crazy high insurance limits for medical payments, so with good student and everything mine is ~$200/month in FL.

Tank of gas is around $40, and I get what the EPA says, right on the dot, and I don't drive it slowly. Tire wear seems to be a small issue; think I might be able to get about 15,000 out of them, but as I said, I drive fairly spiritedly. And, 18" tires don't come cheap.

Just call your insurance co and ask for ms3 cuote. If you like your mz3, you are gonna love the ms3. (burnout)

i think the ms3 is a great car! probably one of the funnest cars i have ever driven on a daily basis. loads of power factory and pretty easy to mod...lots of aftermarket parts for such a new vehicle already on the market....great car for the money...insurance runs about 60 a month full covrage....

I just bought mine too, and I absolutely love it.

I'm 20 also, and an Insurance underwriter. I'm not sure how things are in other states, but the Hawaii MS3 insurance rates are exactly the same as Nissan 350Z's, & the Lexus IS 350's. I wouldn't say it's the insurance rates are great, but their much better (lower/cheaper) than Evo's & STI's.

I don't have anything I can add to this - I only have 100 miles on mine so far :) But I can tell you I'm so excited to have a car that has so many upscale features.

traded my 04 mazda3 for the speed without hesitation...just test drive it and ull want to drive it home the same night...(thumb)

300 miles on my MS3. Great car, I can't wait to be done with the break in period!

The CAI is nice. Just need to get rid of this cup holder rattle.

Picked mine up 2 wks ago and love it. Black GT paid 23,667 out the door with locks and pearl aluminum fuel door. Maint. isn't much. Insurance went up 30+ per month but that's because the Speed3 hasn't been rated yet by Progressive, so they are still using the Mazda3's numbers which shouldn't compare to the Speed3's because it has stability controll and 6 airbags. Tires, I've spotted Kuhmo 215/45/18's online at Tires Direct for 120.00 each free shipping and no taxes. You will pay between 10 and 20 bucks per tire to get them installed. Good company, I've used them in the past--ZOOM ZOOM

Traded a 2k VW gti that was paid off had 63k. This VW even had a new motor at 54k due to a broke timing chain. guess what i'm saying is i shouldn't have traded the GTI to get my MS3 but damn........ the MS3 is a better car for performance.......... besides i owned the VW for 7 years.

Buy the MS3 but besure you can afford the INS........Dman 200.00 a month for ins...... thats nuts i pay 52.00/month just for the MS3, then again age and status helps me out.
