2013~2016: Question Draining *more* transaxle fluid on a CX-5

Just wondering ...

If a transaxle drain-and-fill procedure is performed with the CX-5 on a lift, when most everything has drained I'm wondering what the effect might be of slowly manually rotating the rear wheels a few times. Done in the hope that this would free-up more of the old fluid to actually drain, instead of so much of it remaining "stuck" in the transaxle / torque converter.

No idea if anybody has done this. Or even whether it'd be completely safe.

Can't imagine it'd be any worse than, say, manually turning the crank nose on a vehicle during a timing belt procedure, a few times, to get everything aligned properly for the belt's teeth. Similar slow movement, rotating only a few times max. It would be a bit like the old process of rotating the props on a B-17 plane prior to restarting the engines, to get the settled oil back to where it could do some good. In this case, it would be for (perhaps) getting more of the old fluid out where it could be drained.

Anyone ever try this sort of thing, for a drain-and-fill? Improved results, in terms of amount of old fluid drained?

You might get a little more fluid out. I can't say for sure if there could be any damage by rotating wheels, but I doubt it since you would be rotating fairly slow.

I think you might be better off tilting the vehicle.
Not sure which way the transmission is oriented, but tilt it so the transmission is lower than the torque converter. That might allow some fluid inside the converter to flow into the transmission and therefor drain out. Just a thought, never done it myself.
