PS2 or XBOX

San Andreas isn't coming out on PC??? WTF! :-(
not for another year at least. cuz rockstar and sony signed an aggreement that their games has to come out for the ps2 a year before it can be released for anythign else

oy... Three days until I make a decision. Looks like 6 of one, half a dozen of the other. Most people seem to tout the xbox though. After playing one yesterday then playing a PS2, The Xbox's controller seemed a little bit better except for the black and white buttons, PS2's R1&@ and L1&2 were a bit confusing, though.

1 more thing looks wise, i like the thinner ps2 much better. It comes with the Online adapter builtin so plug and play kinda thing.

They are sexy like that. I think I found a good price on a used one PS2 with a few games, like 4 or 5, but it's the thicker console. What is it about the thinner that makes it more capable than its fatter counterpart?

the thinner one has the built in ethernet/modem, and less heat. but it looks much better then the xbox

Who cares what it looks like? its the games that matter. i didnt buy a ps2 because it looked better than a pile of s***, i bought it for MGS3 :D

Project Gotham 2 Racing (xbox)

vs.

GT4

One of these games has been out for a year.
and also supports online multiplayer :D

yeah but GT4 supports LAN so it aint that bad. Also if you go on the new GT4 site that just went up last week and look at the "Human element" and the tracks it is nothing like anything before. Project Gotham doesn't have people just walking in the middle of the track taking pics and stuff. Like was said before, most if not all Xbox games will be out for the PC so I think a PS2 will be a good choice. I also made a thread of PS2 vs. Xbox like a week ago but was still confused. But since I want GT4, Final Fantasy, MGS3, and Street Fighter series(best fighting games of all time imho) I think I will go with PS2, then buy any games for the PC that were made for xbox.

Reliability: XBox. Disc Read Errors are still common on PS2s.
Games: PS2
Yeah, got a PS2 for our son for Xmas. Only one we could find was the new, tiny one. It plays audio CD's only. Out of 4 new games (and a dozen old), it started only one of them once and froze. Froze up playing a movie too. Probably be a couple weeks before we can get it swapped out, since they're so hard to find in stock. But we have an original playstation so we need the compatibility. :(

i say you just pick up an xbox now and do some xbox live bc ps2 online is trash in comparison.

then, in a couple years, you have a choice between ps3 or the xbox 2 (whatever they coin it). that'll be a much more difficult decision bc the systems will be more equally matched in terms of hardware capabilities.

That contract was 'through' 2004'....so in theory they should be able to release any GTA game for any console they want on or after January 1, 2005. So it will be less than a year - I can almost guarantee it.

Word! I loves my 4 gaming PC's :)

Funny thing is the next consoles both from Microsuck and Sony are being fabed by IBM. The corecell technology is being based off IBM's own PowerPC architecture and the XBOX2 will have three versions: one without a HD, one with a HD and one that is liken to a full blown PC. All three will (at this point) have dual core 3.5GHz cpus and a modified R520 ATI graphics core.
Nvidia will being making the GPU for Sony's PS3 and it will start off at .9 micron and move down to .6 micron later on. All of this is subject to change but it does start to bring it in to focus the next volley in the console wars is going to be quite loud indeed. Your PC will have to have balls the size of Neptune to walk the walk with these fuckers...:)
Of course Desktop multicore procs are just around the corner and SLI is on the Horizon so LET THE GAMES BEGIN!
