So, feeling left out with all the MSPs and MP3s and their production #s I sought out to find mine.
First I tried calling MNAO and they couldn't tell me the prod #, bummer.
So then I was looking at the TSB for cold engine rattle and noticed that it basically gave me the range of VINs for all Protege5s (assuming).
So my logic worked this way:
---------------------------------------------------------------------
-The TSB says
02 Protege5
From VIN JM1BJ24**2*440775 to JM1BJ24**2*551281, go to STEP 3
From VIN JM1BJ24**2*551282 to JM1BJ24**2*641000, go to STEP 4
03 Protege / 03 Protege5
From VIN JM1BJ2***3*100001 to JM1BJ2***3*143365, go to STEP 4
-Now, I'm assuming that for a TSB they would include all Protege5s, at least all NA Protege5s
-So then I can assume that there are 200,225 '02 P5s (641000 - 440775) and 43,364 '03 P5/Pros (143365 - 100001), which is 243,589 total.
note:Now the only thing that I'm not sure of here is how many 03 P5s there truly are, since I don't know if they started making them with this TSB fix already done after VIN 143365 and they are put in together with Proteges- maybe someone here can check to see if they are within the 03 range.
-Anyway, since my 02 P5 VIN ends in 541769 I just subtracted 440775 from that # to get 100,994!, which is what I'm guessing is my production #.
-So I can safely say that I'm a 2002 Protege5 #100,994/200,225?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Does this make any sense to anyone else? Does anyone know how many P5s were actually sent to NA?
