Protege 5 engine swaps

Or a k20 swap I believe that's what it is 240 hp na stock motor if it was feasible id be on my list but swaping motors into a car gets expensive id just stick with the fsde rebuild and turbo it that's the smrter more economical way with more power

600cc injectors for a GT25 like the stock msp??? Wrx 440's would be plenty of fuel to max out the stock turbo which would definately be under 300whp efficiently. Or are you using a T25 flanged larger turbo? GT28 or GT30?

i have a protege 5 and im doing a complete engine build on the stock block, going from 83mm to 84mm 9:1 commpression ratio forged wiseco pisons K1 billet Rods ACL mains/rod bearings, T25 dual BB turbo kit 600cc injectors, H/O fuel pump AEM FIC... ect much better rout than swaping to a MSP, a MSP swap can cost you UP TO 4k doing it yourself, cause you have to find a car... all the stuff listed above as well as replacing gaskets, plugs wires, timing belt...ect its going to cost me about 4500, 500 more than the swap and its a BUILT engine capible of standing 12psi as a daily. Much better rout and better learning experiance. i thought about the MSP swap but they have side mount intercoolers than are able to stand the stock HP, turbo-kits.com has a kit for the protege that will put out about 50 more HP than the MSP engine, once you have all the above done, all you need is a clutch, flywheel, LSD, and maybe some Half-shafts if your pushing over 320HP. ill Have pics up of my build, im not a big forum guy but look me up on cardomain.

So if 2003 are all the same, but nothing else is , do I need to specifically get a 2003 or will any 2.0 protege engine work?

All FS-DE's in the 3rd generation protege are the same. Not all FS-DE's are the same however.[/QUOTE]

2001-2003 fsde out of a protege or protege 5 will work. And btw msp has lower compression pistons so not exactly the same.

No, the MSP has the same internals as all BJ chassis FS-DE motors. The only 3rd gen FS engine that was different was the FS-ZE, which AFAIK has higher compression pistons as well as a slightly different intake manifold (it has a black plastic "resonance" chamber or something on top of it)

Ok, now I'm more confused. Any protege "will work".? I've got a end of yr 2003, 2003.5?
Am I giving up anything by putting in any protege engine?

If it was a 2.0L engine and it came in a 3rd Gen protege (98 - 2003.5), it'll work.

Yep. Notice that year range was for the 3rd gen Protege. Prior to the FS, IIRC, they didn't have a 2.0L engine.

They had 2.0s in the probes 626 and mx6 but I'm not sure if it was the fsde or not I believe it was

Short of an FS-DE motor from a 3rd gen protege, everything will require some sort of modification.

Ideas?
