Yo once u are done let me borrow ur maya file, i'll try to export it to autocad and make that plastic injection mold modelmountjonas said:i love maya. i knew two girls named maya who strangely enough, were in my maya class.
lookin good with your project.
Sure...basically, I took pics of my car from left, right, front, & back (I need a top down pic too). I then import the pics into Maya & draw EP curves along all the different lines on the car. This is actually easier on the MSP because it is so angular. The other guy in my class is doing a Civic hatch, which is very round on the sides & will therefore be harder to do. Once you get the side completely done, you duplicate the grouped lines to make the other side. Then you import the front & back pics & draw the lines to connect the 2 sides. Drawing the EP curves is fairly easy because I have good pics & the car has good angles, but it's very time consuming. The hard part is turning that 2D group of lines into a 3D model. I'm sure I could probably do this in a week (just the wireframe) if I didn't have so many other projects going on at the same time.Dexter said:hey thats pretty cool, care to describe the process?
Because this guy is in the Masters program & that's how he did it:computerGeek said:why not use polygons - extrude facetes - and such then smooth polygons where needed. you could have the basic shape of the car done in 4 hrs? then project paths onto the faces and cut and boolean in other complex shapes!
I miss maya.
I couldn't either so I took my own.Rism said:Its more about which u are more comfortable and skilled in rather then whats better. I have seen polygon and nurbs models that look just the same.
BTW can you post those shots of your car on here i have been trying to find some nice profile shots of a protege to model but havent until now![]()
I have too many pictures to worry about having different versions with no plate for each one. Besides, I'm gonna change the plate by this summer to a personalized one.mazdaspeedpower said:you might wanna edit out you liscence plate, just incase man. You should use your models, and see if you can get someone to do vehicle specs for racing games for the computer and such. I know it would be cool to have a MSP in some of the games I still sometimes play(Midtown Madness 2, NFS(any version) etc). Show us the specs you get done and stuff
Man, i wish i would of know that Senor! I graduated last Sept. w/ an Associate of Science Degree in Game Design.
