Problem with MP3 Air conditioning

Its been wicked hot lately and my air conditioning has a problem, it turns on just fine when the fan speed dial is set to 1 or 4, but when set to 2 or 3, the AC light flickers and the AC turns off. I still have AC either on 1 and 4, but it is annoying to see, and even on 4 it flickers every once in a while.
Does anybody else have this problem? (yes i did a search, didnt find anything on this specific problem) Any ideas or comments?

Actually yea... are your fans messed up too? (Being slower than they should?) If it is then it should just be a simple circuit board under the glove box and it takes 2 seconds to swap this. Just ask your dealer about this and they'll hook you up (it was cheap too but I forgot the price....)

all it is is the a/c controll unit. i had the same EXACT problem and i just changed mine out today and it works perfect now.

I had read that this is a consistant problem with the MP3's. Before I picked mine up, the original owner said he replaced the switch because the A/C was only working on 1 and 4. When I drove it home, it worked for a bit but now I still get 2 and 3 flashing on and off.

Is it the circuit board that is doing this? And if so, where is it at behind the glove box? And does replacing that circuit board fix the problem permanently?

just check out the other thread you posted on

that'll tell you how to replace it. its a 15 minute job max. others have tried just cleaning it up and it will work for a month or 2. heres a pic of what you'd actually be replacing.

MP3Architect, are you replacing the A/C switch right there in the middle?
nah i replaced that whole thing in my hand. im sure you could open it up to find the exact board but i didn't really car. the place i bought the board from sold it as the whole unit anyways.

I too have been experiencing this problem lately. What kind of price is the circuit board going for?

someone said they got it for $40. i was impatiant and didn't want to shop around so i got it for $60. i think the dealer charges over a hundred for it though.

What did that set you back? I'm assuming you got it from Mazda, so that would be a bit pricey I'm sure.

everyone will have this problem. mazda really f***ed up the a/c on our cars. thats why im glad my new msp has a 8 year 100,000 mile warranty. ill have a/c for years to come now!

Yeah my MP3 does it now and my sisters MP5 has done it for a while. Where did you get the control unit? Like a pepboys? checker? autozone?
