Problem Identified? (P0172)

crazy d---did you get that thing in and tuned yet???? Wanna race?:D

I'm going back to the dyno probably at the end of the month if you want to come.

need some more time and random stretches of road to test this better. so far, no code, still leaning out a bit.

and as for the RRFPR comment, its done all the time. i have no interest in 9, 10 etc psi of boost. if you dontate the money ill put whatever EMS you want in my car.

I have the software on my laptop, the MPI installed in the car and no one has told me what to do to get it running up to this point. Any suggestions on where to start? PM me.

I am going to be running 8.7psi to start out with a Garrett GT2871 and 2.5" down pipe. Time will tell what the numbers say.

Nothing is "wrong" with it persay. I can start the car and it will idle just fine. But if I try to give it any gas it any gas it dies. I haven't had time to take the laptop out to the car and actually mess with it. I was just looking for a good place to start, or at least some info on what i need to do.

PM's sent.

Matthew, so how does it run with the RRFPR adjusted? When you say still leaning out a bt, how much?

I ran my first turbo setup with an MSD Inline Fuel Pump and a Aerodyne RRFPR, no clamps though. On the dyno the ECU would run it lean at 14.7 until it hit open loop.

That's an excellent description of why the voltage clamp was developed. With the addition of the clamp that problem goes away.

Is monkeying with the fuel pressure the ideal solution? No. Is it appropriate and safe for lower-boost setups on a budget? Yes.

tim, unfortunately here i dont have the best opportunities to take a WOT run, but from what ive seen i have no code still but im still pulling 12-13 AFRS at WOT. im going to reset the computer today after i adjust the fuel pressure a little more. i lost radio presets and everything last time but i didnt lose my tripmeter, so evidently my GF didnt push on the brake enough or whatever you want to guess.

basically im disappointed but its not too bad because i barely drive this thing anymore. still, i am pissed and i might buy a haltech still, but im afraid to spend the money and still not like the car AND if there is some underlying problem, it wont solve anything...or, does the haltech override completey what the ECU is seeing, so it couldnt pull fuel no matter what it wanted to do?
