I've learned from this mistake. I won't be doing any protege owner any more favors b/c i rarely get a thank you or any kind of nice freindly email....i get more emails asking for more information than any thanking me for the work i've already done.

That's just human nature.

There's tons of information all over the place that people are glad they have, but do they cite it everytime they say it? No, of course not. So naturally, people aren't going to think to cite it if Edwin made it.

Without siting sources on ANY forum, it looks as if you suddenly came up with the information form your own mind, which is preposterous at best in most cases. If you get from somewhere, site the damn source. Is it really that hard?

In this case, then we should cite EVERY peice of information on this site. That would be absurd.

Furthermore, if Edwin wants his info cited, I hope HE cited who originially found out the information. If not, he has nothing to complain about.

I understand he had to jump through some hoops for that info, but it's NOT his intellectual property. He doesn't own the information. Edwin+Wil: You've done a lot for protege guys, I know. Thank you. But if this ever happens again, just keep it to a simple "hey, do me a favor and link to the site next time you quote it". Ok?

Ok...

-Chuck didn't claim the info was his, he said "This was taken from another FORUM:". So it's not like he was trying to take any credit here.

-Chuck however, made the mistake of NOT linking the exact page he got it from. Ok, ya live you learn. So next time you (Not just chuck, EVERYONE) quote someone's text from a site word for word, just go ahead and link it to avoid PAGES OF NONSENSE.

-Edwin and Wil: We appreciate what you've done for the protege scene. If you're really concerned about people cutting and pasting text from your site, you can make it so that the text is not selectable (although that kind of thing annoys me personally). So unless they view the source code (which most people won't), they'll just directly link your site.

-I see both sides here, but Chuck's first post was just an innocent mistake. I doubt he meant any harm.

Now everyone kiss and make up.
