pro5 gauge light bulb.

has anyone ever taken apart the gauge cluster for their car... im looking into changing the bulb to hyper white cause i seen it on my friends car and it looks great. was wondering if anyone ever done this before, and can help me so i dont have to buy a whole new cluster.

thanks

not to burst your bubble or anything...but just changing out the bulbs ain't gonna do it for ya...the gauges have some kind of orange film inside...the bulbs have orange condems on them...so you would have to figure out a way to get rid of that orange film:D

yeah... i would like that. i want to change all the interior bulbs to hyperwhite or blue. but some of the problems im running into is that some of the bulbs are size 74... very very small.. like the shifter light and the ac control panal light. but i found out that the bulb in the gauge cluster is 194 so i can get that bulb from work.

thanks whitezoomzoom

the blue light doesn't look to well "spred out"
...

that is because that picture was taken to show the development of his changeover to blue. He wasn't done yet. I saw that picture on SoundDomain.com. That guy has a great setup in his car, the fiberglass job done in the trunk is awesome!

That picture was a quick picture I took to see how the final result might look. I had some fine tuning to do, and now it looks completely factory. I also didn't have all the bulbs back in the housing. Just a teaser pic....

Forgive me if I missed the point but what good would buying a whole new cluster do you? Would it not be exactly the same as the one in your car now.

I will have to go and take a new pic for you guys. And the reason he was mentioning a new cluster is he is trying to avoid having to buy a new one. They are really xpensive

Ok I've really wanted to do this for sometime on my MP3....any chance of a how-to? That'd be sweet!

Anyone have the blue or purple bulb for the gauge (168 and 74)
im unable to find these bulb (74) in my region, do you know if an online store sell them? or a bulb tint is avalaible?

Yes but what good would a new cluster be?

They are very costly (about $400 USD)! I know, because I had to replace mine. I did however look at my old clulster, and saw that the bulbs have an "orange condem" on them. As a matter of fact, I took one of these orange covers off the bulb, and used it to make my boost gauge light the same color as my cluster lights. All you would have to do is change out the bulbs, or the covers to light your cluster a different color.

You all are missing my point. What would the diffrence be between the new cluster he buys and the cluster he has now? I know they're expesive but what would buying a new cluster accomplish? Unless someone makes aftermarket clusters that I don't know about buying a new one would do no good as it would be the exact same colors as the one he has now.

Looks like I missed that part. The only difference I noticed was that the tones that emmit when you have a door open, or when you turn the key were different (more high pitched).

I think he was saying that if he couldn't change the color of his gauges by changing the bulbs, he might buy a whole new cluster if it was the desired color.

I personally wish I could change the color on my P5. I hate red. It makes me angry. And when I get angry, I start flying around and freaking out like a ninja.
