prestige vs clifford alarms....

ive always liked clifford, never had any problems with them. and generally as far as i can ever tell was a better quality unit.

Use a Clifford RSX 3.5 myself. Very useful, the remote gets a lot of attention just kinda wish it had a bit more range. In 'status check' mode, where the receiver checks with the car periodically to get new messages, the batteries do run out in a month or so. However, in the regular 'non-checking' modes, the remote still gets alerts as they happen but the batteries last a bit longer.

Which model were you looking for?

I also prefer Clifford Matrix RS 3.. i love the remote start feature & turbo timer setup that i have installed on my car Clifford all the way (thumb)

well, i can get a clifford RSX 3.5 for $250 + install

or i can get the prestige 996a w/ remote start installed for $350.....

i'm leaning towards the prestige, cuz install for the RSX is gonna be $$

It's your car's security, do you really want to save a bit of cash now?

I'd highly recommend getting the Clifford. The Prestige is DEI's bottom of the line. Not saying the Clifford is it's best of the best but it'll be a lot better than the other.

well, my thinking is....it's not the car they're going after...all we plan to do is put a decent radio, maybe an amp.and thats about it....no wheels or tv's or ???

so any alarm will tell us they broke into the car....basically after the fact..

Compustar till i die :), but the clifford is a pretty impressive alarm for the price.

I had the DEI Python with remote start and loved it. It came out with a new receiver and the range kind of sucked. I also hate 6 tone sirens.

My ex had an Alpine, but the range was an issue, warr was only 3 years (although no problems with it), and the remotes used up batteries.

If the two you mentioned, the Clifford (they have been around a long time, so I imagine they are good)

Keep in mind that Viper, Clifford, Python, Rattler, Hornet and a few others are all owned by the same parent company, DEI. It's just the level of part quality that seperates them from what everyone says.

I've had zero complaints about my Clifford so far.

Clifford Millennia X 2.

But both cars arming/disarming chirps stop working after a year. Each alarm was bought a year apart.

My original Python kicked ass, but then I started having minor problems with it and they replaced it with the newer brain and the remote was new too. After that, the range sucked ass!! I could be across the street in a hospital (on the 6th floor) and remote start it, but I had to point the remote at the antenna near the rearview mirror (literally pointing the remote at the windshield) for it to finally disarm. It wasn't a weak battery neither.

prestige is a pain to install... and you have alot of problems with the alarms.. the alarms suck... dei is #1 for a reason... and you pay for what you get

Prestige *is* DEI.

um no, audivox makes it... do a search on yahoo.... i do this for a living man.. car audio installer

what a lot of people don't know is that almost all alarms come from one parent company and are sold to many manufactures that customize them to their needs and wants. Also, prestige does not suck. Audiovox is a very nice company and I've heard nothing bad about them. They also have a new alarm coming out(or it mught have just came out) that puts all other alarms to shame. But it also costs like $700 or more I beleive. It also has it's own patent. But anyways, I just bought my Prestige APS996A for $130 and will be getting it installed next week or the following week. As stated before, just make sure you have a backup power source.

peopel state with teh audivox you get better range.. and i do have soemthign to backup my opinion, actually doign installs for over 2 years. The audivox's brains and sensors go bad all the time. The shop always has to swap out the brains, i always tell customers to pick up dei prodcuts.. pretty easy to install and no problems. I personally doint liek audiovx and think the way they make the stuff is cheap..
