Well,

Great day at the dyno yesterday, but did notice my sub cutting in and out. Didnt think too much about it cause I was happy with my dyno results. I get home, relax a bit, and go out for the evening. Then I found my sub NOT FRIKIN WORkIN AT ALL

:wtf: is up with that? I hooked my j/l 12 I got as an amp breakin sub. (Its an older model, and has had the cone repaired numerous times, so it sounds like s***.) and It werked.

I know I b**** about everyone talkin bout warranty s***, but I know for a fact that my dealer is gonna give me a hard time, cause I wired my Sirius power wires into the amp wires, and relocated the radio for my indash tv.

So, anyone got a good sugestion for a better 8 inch sub? Im lookin to spend about 80-100 bucks top, as my sound is not my most important area I wanna imporve on right at this time (I got the need for more speed outta my speed :D )

my sub went out and i hit it and it came back on for a minute then never came back on.I took it out of the enclosure and had to resolder the connections on the speaker itself.its been working fine since.

mk is right, definitly sounds like a speaker wire has come loose on the subwoofer. Just unscrew it from the enclosure and then reconnect it. To make sure it is permently on there solder it or atlest crush the speaker spade on the wire a bit then push it onto the speaker.

The sub is likely fine.

I thought it was the spade and squeezed it tight but that wasnt the case.it was the wire form the voice coil, thats what had to be soldered

High levels of distortion from the amp. Check and make sure your gain isnt up to high from the factory. Mine was but I'm running Zapco and Quart stuff annyway. Kept the headunit though.

DAMN!
The wire end at the connect not at the voice coil though right?

I had that happen on a Polk EX 2 once. It worked fine then it was showing a 22 ohm impedance. I resoldered the end and it was tit from then on. Its still banging in my buddies focus.

This isn't the first time a member mentioned the stock MSP kenwood sub doing this.

Never been a fan of kenwood subs. I like their headunits though.

(2thumbs)

Huh huh ..... he said 'head'.

LoL, Thanks guys. IF its the wire at the voice coil, Im jsut chuckin the damn thing, and gonna go J/L or totally change the enclosure to a fiberglass one, and a decent 10 inch sub.
