Plug and Play "HID Look" Bulbs

Has anyone ever used the xenon headlights that fit into the factory 'outlet.' You dont have to have any adapters or anything. They usually run about 40-50 dollars a pair, I was j/w if they are worth it or if there is that much of a difference.

alright, I found this site, and they have the yellow ones I want for fog lights as well. They arent xenon I dont think, but are still white. Just wondering if anyone has tried these or some similar.

fakety fake fake

yeah they aren't HIDs or xenon or anything. they are just bulbs with paint on them to simulate a color.

If you want light output without spending money on real HIDs, get Osram Silverstar bulbs: check danielsternlighting.com

If you want the look of HIDs.. just get them, you can have them for like 200 dollars.

jonlong said he uses the luminics jdm yellow and said he loves them. I was also looking at the silverstar bulbs, but they are more expensive by about 15 a pair. still lookin an PMing jonlong. any other opinions?

if you just want the yellow look, then I guess go for the yellow painted ones. they aren't going to output any more light as they are just a coating on a normal halogen bulb, but yellow light is a better wavelength for seeing through water vapor.

i just want it for the look, thats it. idk about their hyper white. do you think those are similar to the silverstar?

i was planning on getting the yellow for the fog lights and the hyper white for low and high beams.

all of the luminics "ultra" or "hyper" white bulbs are really blue looking. I had the "ultra" whites before I got my HIDs, but got sick of the poor visibility at night since they don't put out a lot of light.

The yellow fog bulbs look really nice though, and who cares about light output since our foglights barely put out much light onto the road anyway.

I wouldn't bother with anything for the high beam bulbs, for high beams you want the most light output possible so just stick to clear glass bulbs.

so just get the low beams and the yellow ones? forget about high beams? well what if i get the silverstar for the high? would that work better? I am gonna go pricing for the silverstar tomorrow so I may go ahead and just get those and only get the yellow from luminics

Speaking of lights whats a good fog lights set to replace my stock ones? Both of them have a crack going from the middle to the outter edge.

now what about the hyper white and titanium white? is there much of a difference for the $15 extra?

yea my car is yellow so i am really into these yellow ones

the more "blue" they advertise the light to be, the less light output you will get from them. As for Silverstars, there's a lot of confusion because there are teh Sylvania Silverstars sold in the U.S., and Osram Silverstars sold in europe. Yeah, they are a merged company, but the two products are very different. Osram Silverstars actually output more light by using higher quality materials (instead of using higher wattage which may melt/burn your headlight wiring). They aren't sold in the u.s. directly, but you can get them from www.danielsternlighting.com or www.powerbulbs.co.uk. If you want to upgrade the high beam bulbs, I'd go with Osram Silverstars.. they aren't going to have any "hyper white" look to them but they are definitely as white as the U.S. market Sylvania Silverstars

If you ever need any lighting information or want to clear up myths, check out the daniel stern lighting consutant site that I just linked to. He has really good articles about all this stuff.

In all honesty even though I know you just want the hid look, I would save your money for the lowbeam bulbs.. most of the "hyper white"-style bulbs don't last very long. I'd say just suck it up and save to get the real thing. Now that I have HIDs I'll never go back.

Another solution for your foglights would be to get the rockblocker fog light covers. They protect the fog lights from rock chips and cracks as well as making the light yellow.. and they look a cool yellow when they're off.

what's a good site to get HIDs from? i cant afford them now but i may look into it. for now I think i'll just get those luminics

Xenon Shop on the boards does HID and www.xenonexpert.com
both are really good

as far as bulbs go and that "hyper-white" what kansei said is right, but theres more to it. im runnin a pair of 4000K hyper white bulbs in my low beams and the light output is actually a hell of a lot better than the stock 3200K bulbs. im basically blind at night and right now i cant afford hid so i do what i can for seeing at night. also i dont feel like buying silverstars because theyre way too expensive. a set of $20 xenon look bulbs lasts me like 6-7months no problem, plus they look cool when theyre on cuz theyre brighter than the foglights. idk i just like the way it looks

so is that a "go" for the hyper whites from luminics?
