Some info on Genie. They are a company from Australia and have been in the business for more than 40 years making hearders. There is no header for the Protege but rather for the 323 Astina 2.0L I know the engines are the same but how exact are the engine bays? The headers are made of mild steel and not stainless steel plus they are not ceramic coated. They make headers for the 1.8 and 2.0 L. They also sell under the name Wildcat. Member Vultz also has the Wildcat (Genie) header on his car he is from Australia so people can talk to him for info/opinion about the header and this company that is local for him.

Macklum how was the fitment?

I believe Genie makes (or made) headers for VW's as well, though don't know for sure if its the same co. If it is, I've heard good things personally...

Fitment is perfect ,everything lines up no clearance issues . Just like it was made for our cars . It only has one bung for the O2 sensor but I used the MSP front pipe which has 2 cats and the second bung it it between the 2 cats ,I have had no CEL . I did have to extend the wiring for the 2nd sensor but I used the one for the MSP.

Yeah for sure, quality looks really good and fitment should be dead on if they've been in business for 40 years. The only drawback is its mild steel. Macklum did you buy it off of the TO forum?

Yes off the TO forum. As for the header being mild steel ,it is coated and the thickest wall (approx 3/16th) of an inch I have seen on a header . I dont expext it to rust out any time soon , This winter will tell . Malcolm

I'm confused...it looks like you posted pics of two totally different headers there. The exhaust ports are a dead giveaway...

They are the pics I recieved from the guy I bought them from. Its possible the wholesaler got the pics mixed up . Anyway the header is that shape , as fro TOprotege check www.toprotege.com

so, im looking at the parts .pdf file and im not seeing anything that coordinates to a 2.0 protege. you said "323 Astina 2.0L", where is that listed? not really familiar with what foreign cars match with US model. also, with being in different countries i wonder how this would effect me being in the US with emissions testing? anyone? new to the mazda scene and looking for some minor bolt on performance gains. thanks.

Page 26 Genie #003E or Wildcat #252 my friend. Wildcat and Genie are the same headers. Emissions wise this header is no different then AWR, Ractive or OBX. Material wise it is made out of mild steel whereas the others are made of or are available in stainless steel. But like macklum said it has very thick coating so it should be good for a while. The company has been in business for 40 years so I'm very confident that the quality is immaculate.
