Phen's China Adventure

Right phrases, wrong order....

"Please bring me a beer."
"Thank You"
"Hello"

I felt the same when I was stationed in Panama (even though I had taken Spanish for two years in high school). Each country has different slang and when they speak really fast, I can only pick up a word or two. Like Jenn said, you'll pick it up as your stay lengthens.

Dude, I took Spanish for 10 years and I still can't speak very much of it. LOL!!!

Noted for when I head downtown on Saturday. heh.

Hahahaha. Nice. Had I known about this venture to China while I was working on the other project, and just twiddling my thumbs sitting in the Atlanta airport every month, I would have gotten with you guys for some help!

Hahaha. Ok.

Here are a couple pics from the banquet at Lao She Teahouse.

I'm going exploring after golfing tomorrow. I'll have more pictures then.

She's right. I didn't use 'v' because no one else would know it. It's actually 靓女 or 辣妹

Sorry man my wife told me to write that.... :P

Anyways Phen, you look pretty Chinese. Do people start talking to you in Chinese, realize you have a blank look and look at you like you are retarded? After that I learned how to say "I don't know how to speak _____, I only know how to speak English" in whatever language I might need at the time.

Not yet. Ya know, leading up to the trip, people were all saying "Oh, you'll just blend in." As soon as I get here, the one lady asked if I was Asian at all because I look like it. D'oh!

that guy in the third pic looks like me, 5 years from now.

lol

Indeed it does! Haha.

Well, I spoke too soon. I was at Yashow today and while I was in the Adidas store, I had a couple folks come up to me and start speaking Chinese. Fortunately, I remembered how to say "I don't understand," and they started speaking English. One girl asked me where I was from. I just happened to have on my Dusty Armadillo t-shirt. That didn't help much, so I pointed to a LeBron Cavs jersey that they still had there and that cleared it up. Haha.
