I'm glad to hear that the misfire issue is fixed (so far)!

Found the issue. one of the vacuum lines that is part of my vac "block" wasn't connected to the blow off valve. Evan heard the compressor surge last night, as did I, but couldn't figure out why it was doing that. Yeah... ******* BOV wasn't hooked up. Both ends of the vacuum lines that mate to each other were hidden out of sight. Took me 10 minutes to find w here both halves were.

No longer reaks of fuel.
BOV works
Idle and off throttle are pulling sufficient vacuum.

See! I knew that was a new sound when you pulled into the drive last night. (patting myself on the back) haha

Woot!!!! Congrats on getting everything resolved and Lindsay back on the road Phen!

Excellent. So hopefully everything is working well!

So far so good. Next step is to put an MBC back in and bring it back up to 10 or 12 psi.

ECU was fine. They tested it on a couple different cars, including their big power test mule (over 300whp).

I wasn't going to tell anyone, but let's take a look at what could cause a misfire, ignition-wise. Spark plugs, spark plug wires, coils. I replaced plugs twice, and tried different coils. I changed the last part. Problem gone.

I wasn't going to tell anyone because I felt like a dumbass. The only part that I didn't change (because I figured they don't go bad very quickly) and it was the culprit.

Everything seems to be back together with no issues. Drove up to the Mentor Winking Lizard last night from work, then to home. Round trip of 104 miles. The needle just barely left the F line when I got home. And before anyone says "Oh, the map was your issue all along too, you're getting good mileage!" I have several tanks documented getting the same initial mileage with the old mapS.

Hmm, I didn't know that the MSM's would run through wires as well. I thought it was pretty commonly known, at least for the earlier ones. The M.net article said they can go bad in as little as 20k miles on Miatas for whatever reason. I had to replace my wires, as it developed a stumble in the low rpms, but wasn't a huge issue besides pulling out into traffic because I'd always keep the revs over 3k anyway. One day it rained and it missed throughout the whole rev range and it was almost undriveable.

That's sweet it was something cheap and simple, but sucks it took so long to find. I'm sure you'll be ready next time! :D

Yeah... I had Korey replace mine with good ol' OEM parts when I had my misfire issue when it was stupid hot out. After that, is was smoooth sailing.

I remember you telling me that MSMs eat wires like a fat kid and cake.

Well I'm just glad you got it figured out. Anyone that does any amount of problem solving is bound to miss simple solutions from time to time.

With those, you're fine until you have a problem. There's no set interval. Talking with Jeremy at FM, he said that they can last 30k, or they can last 100k. They're completely unpredictable. Seeing as how I'm at 80k, I can't be mad.

So Pablo... you should read this as "If it isn't acting up, don't spend the money if you don't need to."
