Perfect Power PRS8 Standalone

Yeah, I was using the newset version of the windows software from 7/2003. I wonder if I try the DOS software instead, will it work? Hmmmm... Time to learn how to use the DOS software.... I wonder how old the firmware on the PRS8 I have is?

You got Pwned... try switching serial ports. Load the software first, set the settings then try to switch to online mode.

Yeah, I think I better load a map on there 1st huh? LOL!

Well, I unloaded all the software, and associated software, and it still gives me the same error when I try to connect. I wonder if I have a bum unit?

Could be a shot in the dark.

Or a shot in your mouth, you...

HAHAHA!! Somebody gave me the Jay and Silent Bob set up. Had to get that one off.

Sorry, back on topic.

I think I may have gotten the answer to my problems:

Originaly posted by Neil:
Dont worry about the green light that is normal, it is the fuel pump led, it goes on for a set amount of time and then automatically switches off if a crank signal is not detected.

For the run time error there is a work around for this, the problem possibly comes from an invalid setting in your global parameters, what I would suggest doing is loading the dos software on your machine then loading one of the default maps on to your unit, try the command LF FIRST your should have the FIRST file with the software when you download it. After this the windows software will run fine.

Time to resume testing again! :D

ditch me and get 98 se..
me is the most error ridden horrid piece of crap out there. -=\
it works with nothing.. even hotsyncing some palms to it will cause it to crash..
try 98 se and give it a shot.. plus it will run faster and take less memory. -=P

Well, I tried to get it working with DOS last night, with no luck. When I connected it up, and fired up the DOS software, I would get a comm error. I then proceded to do the LF FIRST command, and the values would show up in the software. After that, I had no control of my software. I just about believe I have a fubar unit. :'(

Seems like you have nothing but problems. How much did you pay for that thing?

Doesn't matter. I'm just glad I didn't pay $80 for the harness now. I went and bought a power supply today, and did some further testing on the unit, and the communication wouldn't work. Looks like I will be going with another option really soon. Haltech anyone? Does anyone :: cough :: *Perfworks* :: cough :: have another option?

I would honestly wait for perfworks. Seems to be a simpler solution than a stand alone with all the benefits, and without the draw backs. I wanna see someone with forged and an ems to crank up the boost and see what kinda results are happening. I have to wait on the money to get the AEM from perf, too much going on right now. Have to pay for a wedding and blah blah blah. I know you've had your internals for awhile. Are you still planning on going with the 440's or are you going to go bigger?

I will probably go with something bigger, and the Haltech with the adapter plug. We will see.
