Pennzoil synthetic any good?

They address that question, and on every site I've ever seen you can switch back to conventional after you've used synthetic. The question is, "why would you want to"? To answer the original question about Penzoil. It is fine. Almost all the major synthetics perform the well. Now if you're talking about Royal Purple, AMSoil, or Synergen. Those are a step above the rest. They also cost about $7 a quart.

Basically, they put a lot of motors built and measured to exact specifications into NY taxicabs and let them run for 60,000 miles on different brands of oil.
The surprising results?
They measured NO SIGNIFICANT DIFFERENCE between any brand they tested, including organic and synthetic. They all performed well. The only reason they suggested spending the extra money on synthetic would be if you had a high load motor, such as a work truck or something. Normal cars would be fine on any brand.
Peace of mind doesn't have a price on it, though, so if you feel better with synthetic under the hood... go for it.

Are Amsoil really that great? My father wants to be a dealer, but I'm not really sure how well they perform. I've seen the charts or graphs that they have and it surely outperform the rest. So, are Amsoil really that great?
Need to know because I'm thinking about getting them for my car.
Hey guys, whats the best Transmission oil? Red Line? what other brands are good for our vehicles, knowing that our transmission are not the best?

Well, as for the Consumer Reports article, I think the biggest flaw in the whole study was to use the oil in Taxis.
The big difference? Taxi's run ALL THE TIME. No cold starts! Plus they all get regular maintenance... plus there was one other thing, but I couldn't think of it.
Anyways, put a regular oil up against any synthetic, especially up here in the great white north (cold cold startups!), and the synthetic will out perform the conventional stuff!

AMSOIL has quieted down my motor. Before it was slightly noisy, now it is quieter than my honda which I thought was silent. You open the hood and it sounds like a sewing machine, It's unreal. Every 100 miles since I put it in, it seems to get quieter. I have gained some gas mileage, never dynoed. I used to use Mobil 1 in my last car which I thought was good, but I figured try this stuff, and so far, I have never seen anything work like it.
I bought mine from thier online store ~~ the stuff flys off the shelves around here, so Instead of fighting to get to the store first, I just ordered from the company. Amsoil
1 gallon of 5 weight $22, used 3 quarts of that, and 1 quart of 0 weight series 2000 ~~ $8. Yes, you can mix weights, putting all 0 weight in may not be as benificial as you may think, bu 1 quart with 3 quarts of 5 weight did my car good. My cousin, the ASE mechanic, said to me yesterday, when I pulled up~~ Is your car running??
my car is so silent, I may enlist it for a special ops vehicle for the Navy SEALS ~~~stuff impresses me more and more every day. BTW, use OEM filter, you will pay extra for it ~~ around $10 or whatever, but the filter was engineered by Mazda, for Mazda ... so ...

Now, once using AMSoil, can one extend the amount of mileage between oil changes to say 7000mi due to the high level of oil quality? Also, this would help justify the cost increase even more for those would-be financial planners?
