OK, I searched for this, and in the last 2 years have never seen a thread on it. I detailed the inside of my car last night, after finally having a decent March day, and for the second time, am unable to figure out how to remove the foot rest aluminum "pedal" as well as the gas pedal. I want to remove them to clean underneath; the carpet and the holes in the gas pedal respectively. The foot rest has phillips screws and the gas pedal has what appears to be Torx screws, but they just spin, and do not loosen or tighten. I felt underneath, and there appears to be a plastic piece that the screws go into, but they also just spin with the screw. WTF, how do these come off?
BTW, did anyone else notice our gas pedal and the lever it attaches to are plastic? The cover is aluminum, but the rest is plastic.
