PCM vs. ECU

Actually ECU is the old term, before OBD-II. The new term is PCM or ECM depending on manufacturer.

Well if it's of any help, I got my car re-flashed yesterday, and they were REALLY cool about everything. They let me go into the service area, and the computer hooked up to my car said "PCM REPROGRAMMING IN PROGRESS."

I guess we have a PCM..... and it's "re-flashable." (?)

So, if its a new PCM....I think I wont get a flash done....not after that article in turbo magazine where it said the flash lost hp.

Hmmmmmmm...If you check out the April issue of Import Racer, they say the re-flash caused a slight gain in horsepower and torque. I've read both articles, and to me it seems as though Import Racer is taking a much more professional approach to their MSP project car.

Yeah, I took mine in for a flash a while back and i really didnt notice a whole lot of a difference. I dont know. But when i took it in they said they my ECU needed reset.... and they installed an update.... whatever that means.
