Paint for calipers

My only plan today was to relax and paint my calipers. Of course, i read through the "how to" section and noted some advice.
So i went on the hunt today for some paint (already have everything else). According to the "how to", G2 or Duplicolor (high temp) was what i needed.
Home Depot only had black and said that is the only color they carry!? :wtf:
He told me to go across the street to the AutoZone (which i always try to avoid). He said they normally carry high temp paint. Of course all they had was spray paint, and i really don't want to spend the time masking everything off.
So low and behold, my calipers went unpainted.
Can anyone recommend any options?
Or do any jersey folk know of any good stores around that carry what i need?

1. You can spray paint that. Take your time and it will turn out just fine.
2. You can buy the other stuff online. It's much more expensive. Like $30 at least while the spray can is like $3.

You can also take off your calipers and spray paint them. Someone on this board did that a while back and kind of regrets that now. Don't remember the name though.

don't take them off unless you know what your doing!

And, painting with a brush is going to take you even more time then masking everything over with tape then spraying.

I used g2 caliper paint, looks great. But it took a LONG LONG time to paint them. Your talking 3 coats before I was even happy with them, and then I painted them again months later to use up the rest of the can....don't do this though. Do them in one day. If you have to do it again due to chipping or whatever, sand them, and do them all over again...trust me.

I also used G2. Great stuff, but yes, save a whole day, preferably a Saturday so you can give it some more time to "cure" on Sunday.

Anyway, if I was to do it again I'd probably remove the calipers and the brake shoes, but I chose to just undo the bottom bolt from the caliper and swing it up/down, that gave me some good access all over it. Here's a pic of what I mean:

And here's my thread after I painted them:

Someone mentioned something about curing... How long should you let the paint dry? I have Duplicolor metalcast and it says something between 30 minutes for each coat.

If I were to put it on early in the morning would I be able to drive that night without incidence?

Also, how many cans does it usually take?

I've been told by alot of people that this stuuf is the best. Goes on thick and looks dynimite, almost like a plastic like cover finish.
I plan on doing mine, i will post some pics soon.

Eli, how is the folia tech paint holding up?

Did you have any left?
(would there be enough for me and a friend to both do it out of one kit?)

Thanks!
