Pablo's MSP maintenance thread

I guess its time I posted here...

Like the title says, this will be a maintenance thread as the car needs very little work, mostly basic maintenance and some customization to make it more my own.

A few weeks ago I purchased a 2003.5 MSP, the car is set up for NASA TTD and would fall into FP for autox. I still need to go through the rest of HPDE so I'll need to put in a passenger seat for a while, but once I get my TT license it'll go back out.

Some of you might recognize the car, its been on a couple of magazines and is well known in the Great Lakes region (maybe Mid West?) in TTD. Don't know if she had a name before, but I named her Gina (after Gina Carano). Why? Well, she's hot, sexy and if you're not careful she will ******* kill you (seriously). She currently holds 3 track records for TTD:

- Mid Ohio (Pro course): 1:38.997
- Grattan: 1:29.099
- BeaveRun: 1:09.929

Goals

- get used to how she drives
- change the color scheme from baby blue to bloddy red
- go through HPDE and get TT license
- try to get the times listed
- have fun (and maybe kick some ass)

Things to do in 2013

- change both drive shafts *done
- change front wheel bearings *done
- see if I can fix the fuel gauge
- relocate oil temp and pressure sensors to get an accurate reading (maybe add a sandwich plate)
- remove decals from PO *done
- apply my own decals *done
- drive (already signed up for a day @ Mid Ohio, might do an HPDE with NASA, the Pro Solo in Toledo and maybe a couple of local autox)

Since the spring rates have increased greatly, you should look into having the shocks re-valved.

Racecars need maintenance? Hmmmm... Good luck Pablo and can't wait to see what times you get at a TEA event even though you'll be in a different class than me.

Ordered a couple of fuel jugs, bearings, oil seals and retaining rings. Already have the drive shafts.

Need to buy a couple of bolts so I can put the muffler back on, my neighbors won't be happy when I'm loading the car on the trailer @ 5 AM... lol

Other than that, last week I let her run for a few minutes to keep the battery alive. Did some research on the lap timer to see how it works, I'll need to change the battery on it.

First thought on the name choice, which fits perfect for PMS Racing

Need to get a battery tender for her.

I would not be to worried about the lap times as you should be concerned about the the handling characteristics of the car...I know in speaking with Bill that the car is extremely loose and she'll try to step out on you, so keep your wits about you my friend!

You're welcome. (kiss)

thanks pumpkin

LMAO...

I have a charger, but it's in the apt, no hookup in the garage. I tried to take the battery out but one of the terminals wasn't cooperating so I just run it for a few minutes.

I won't be able to get times till I run with NASA, so not in a hurry, I just didn't know how to even turn it on...

Guess its time I sub to this.

The lap timer switch is up on the box that is zip tied to a bar in the rear window area on the driver's side.

What's this talk about FWD being loose and stepping out? Oh wait... I spin my all the time :) Break in a line and excelerate through the turn. If not the rear end goes WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

Pablo I have a spare Kirkey seat if you need it. pm me about it.
If you have a light in the garage get an adaptor that you can convert the light bulb socket to a receptical, then you can plug your battery tender in.

Thanks Marc. Evan already found me a seat, need to remove\relocate the fire bottle to put it in but the challenge will be putting a stock seatbelt on with the roll cage in the way
