Pablo's MSP maintenance thread

What's this talk about FWD being loose and stepping out? Oh wait... I spin my all the time :) Break in a line and excelerate through the turn. If not the rear end goes WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

My 3 had that condition, albeit the springs weren't as stiff. I should get the hang of it quick, will take it to an autox before Mid Ohio to get a feel for it.

Just now saw this thread. Can't wait to see you out there driving it.

I'm really curious to see how my car is going to be at Mid-Ohio with the new tire setup. It rotates a lot at autoX so I can only imagine how much rotation there will be at faster speeds.

I received the bearings, fuel jugs and got the seat from Marc. Put the muffler back on but it didn't seem to make much of a difference... not sure what's up with that. It looks weird so I might take it back off.

Got a heat gun and removed most of the vinyl from the car, still have to clean the rear doors to remove all the adhesive. Cleaned her up a bit and drove her around the block (lol2) but I'd like to use the claybar when I have more time. Marc is going to help me remove\relocate the fire bottle so we can put the passenger seat in, and press the bearings and studs. Plan is to do a couple of autox before June 10.

Will have some vinyl done in red to replace some of the ones I took off and begin the transition from blue to red.

I can't remember if there was one in the stuff I gave you, but the muffler needs a gasket between the flange on the exhaust and the flange on the muffler. They are readily available at auto parts stores.

Oh, and I found the original grill up in the attic so I need to get that to you sometime.

yeah, I got a gasket this morning, not sure if there's a leak but I really didn't think it was any quieter... LOL

I like the sound, just don't want to piss people off when I put it on a trailer early in the morning

Pablo if you need vinyl shoot me a PM. I can cut you whatever you need/want.

Wow I didn't even know you bought Bill's MSP! I had some serious thoughts about buying it for like 1 hour...then I checked my bank account HAHA!!

Subbin!!!

Placed an order for a harness for the passenger side, planning on doing the bearings and drive shafts on Sunday. Need to get her ready and take her to an autox before June 10.

Couldn't get the left axle nut off, but got the side side apart. Replaced the drive shaft and will press the bearing tomorrow. Will take care of the other side either on the weekend or early next week.

Harness has been shipped, should be here on Friday.

Woohoo for progress. you're already ahead of Evan :)

I've had to repeatedly heat and soak axle nuts... not to mention the liberal use of a 4 ft breaker bar.

And lol @ Corey

Were you able to get a hold of Jake and see if he can swing by with his impact? I can't believe how tough that one nut was... We were loosening it right? ;)
