Pablo's 2004 MSM Build

I was bored at work yesterday so given she was clean (for a change), I snapped a pic. Also, went autoxing today. Man that was fun, I love the Star Specs.

CHIVE ON!!!

i will give you a heads up, if/when you ever take that sticker off, have alot of goo gone ready... worst sticker ive ever dealt with as far as leftover residue goes...

Updates!

1. Driving her a lot, and autoxing.

2. Found a good deal on a used Hardcode M2, picked it up yesterday and doing some prep work before the install.

Jess and her dad helped me remove the panels and make the cuts so the bar can be fitted

Plasma cutter!

I gots to use the Plasma cutter!

The bar had a crappy paint job when I got it, as well as some scratches so I decided to repaint it.

sanded

applying the second coat

and done. Kinda dark so I doubt it looks good, chose a matte black which I think will look good on the car.

The install will be finished tomorrow. For now I want to get it on, later on I'll cut the panels to make them fit and restore some of the interior.

Ever had plasma cutter slag land between your toes? It doesn't feel too good. Ask me how I know!

Looking good though!

sigh... no roll bar today. Turns out its not an M2 but an M1, so the glass window won't go down, it rests on top of the harness bar. Aside from that its fine, so Jess's dad offered to cut it and grind the welds so it fits. Figured this would be a good option since I spent money picking it up that I won't make back if I sell it. So, it will be repainted (again) and hopefully it'll be installed on Saturday.

In the mean time, the ABS sensors were relocated to allow the bar to sit all the way back. All that's left to do is drill the holes and tighten everything.

Sounds like typical Pablo luck. Sorry to hear it man!

Are you replacing the clutch? I'd think that replacing the SS clutch line would be a b**** with the transmission in the car.

not yet... feels fine so far. Its got almost 85k miles on it, thought about eventually getting the FM happy meal. Didn't know it would be a pain, in that case I might just replace the slave cylinder to see if the issue goes away (its been fine since last weekend).

Sorry to hear you had problems with the roll bar, glad you are getting it taken care of. Based on all the roll bar installs I have read about Jess and her dad doing, I think they should open up a shop.

Installing the clutch line isn't that bad, depending upon what you have on the passenger side of the engine bay. Pull the right front wheel and you have good access to the slave. It is helpful to have some specialty wrenches.

I got some wrenches that ratchet on the open end just for doing brake stuff like this. It makes a world of difference. Definitely use a flare nut wrench to crack the fittings loose and tighten them up though.

+1 on the flare nut wrenches, they will save you much cursing/frustration. I got a set of (4/5?) from Sears for not a lot of money.

What a pain in the ass... we finally got the bar on, turns out I was missing a couple of plates for the back section... so we had to improvise, again. It's on, and I think it turned out pretty good. Cut the carpet to fit around the bar and left the wind deflector off, only have to trim the plastic panels.

So far, the car feels a bit tighter with the bar on, we'll see what happens on Sunday during the autox. Looking forward to using the Nitto's I got from Evan. I put on the camera mount so I'll be posting video later.

I'm trying to make it to Nelson Ledges in a couple of weeks, really want to get some seat time on track.

Also, I made a deal with Will to grab his suspension when he puts the car away for the winter. Whenever that happens, I'll be getting Koni Yellows, GC sleeves and springs (375F/250R) and FCM top hats and bump stops. As for alignment, we'll see where it ends up.

Updated to do list:

- motor mounts: these are going to be a b****
- magnaflow catback -> maybe this year, probably next
- frog arms -> who knows
- frog ribs -> who knows
- <strike>springs or coilovers</strike>
