Pablo's 2004 MSM Build

Wow. I've got new pads/rotors for mine, I was planning on checking the pins after all I've read but especially now. Glad you got it fixed up.

so... I fixed my brakes today, took like 30 min... the culprit?

******* slider pins, one of the boots had come off the caliper so it was bone dry and had some rust in there. I put new pins on the left side and lubed the ones on the right, those were OK. Car stops as it should now (I drove Marc's miata at MO as a reference), now I have to get a good set of pads and do the same maintenance on the rear. Thanks to almighty Bill who suggested I made sure the pins were lubed properly, I had no idea...

Sounds about right. My Protege used to have slider pin problems all the time.

I had that same problem with my brakes too, except on of the slider pins was seized in the caliper and required purchasing a whole new mount. A 45min job turned into a 2 week ordeal. No fun.

getting a few goodies: used A6s from Bill 225/45/15 (for next year), HP+ pads and a Begi CAI. The AEM I have works fine but I noticed the tube that goes on the turbo inlet is rubbing against a stud from the power steering pump... I haven't been able to adjust it so that it clears, guess this is what I get for buying used stuff and trying to save a few bucks.

Ballin for new parts and tires! What wheels are you going to go with? 6UL (or whatever that company is?)

don't know yet, I was gonna get Konig Flatouts, 15x8 +25 12.8lbs but decided to pay off s*** and get more seat time, so I'm also holding off on the sway bars. I'll keep trolling the forums and see if I can find a good deal in the fall, if not then I'll probably get the Konigs

Well ya gotta get the Flat-outs since you've got a Mazdaspeed, right? ;)

well, I'm glad to see that you said 15x8's and not 15x9's. Can't fit x9's without coilovers.

brake pads are here, and I found what I think is a good deal on the forum: 15x7.5 Konig ReTracks, red with polished lip. Not too crazy about the color but they seem in great shape and had a great price.

I like those! The color, meh. For track/auto-x, who cares what they look like right.

Haha! I knew you couldn't resist, looking at those pics all day saturday. ;)

The color will be interesting, but they're for track/autox so color doesn't really matter. Plus, you can always paint them!
