- P5 and some other econo box
Well today I had to go to Germany for an appointment and decided to stop by the Ring on the way there. My wife always wants to know whats this so called "Ring" that I go to all the time. So I had her and my son in the car with me. Before anyone jumps in and tells me how dangerous it was I didnt push the car anywhere near where I would with my Evo. I just wanted to show the wife why I love it so much.
First off I have to say I was very impressed with the P5. It doesnt handle as well as my Evo but it handles damn well for a sport wagon. She has no problem holding on to the road or with turn in. That was with full load and 80lbs+ of stereo equipment in the boot. Two things that concern me are the brakes and lack of power.
The brakes felt really good for the first couple of turns. After that the pedal felt really soft and great smell of brake pads(btw I love that smell) quickly filled the car. So my next upgrade will a new set of blanks, pads and a fluid flush with decent fluid. That should cure that.
Now that power issue. I think its a mix of lack of power and weird ass power band. With my Evo I have full boost at about 3k. In the P5 I have to be at like 4.5k to have any power. And at those rmps the motor sounds like its about to explode. But never the less it was still fun. This wont be the last time the P5 attends the Ring. Next time the brake issue will be fixed and weight wise everything I don't need will be removed.
For those interested mods: Ebay intake, ebay cat-back exhaust, Wagner shorty header, gutted cat, and B&M short shifter. I posted pics of my tires after my run, and the new sticker. She earned her Nurburg"wings"
