Seriously, why are you driving around with neons on?

why do people drive with their fogs on? because i want to and it looks good....

non taken. just suprised to hear that. i like my car to stand out, i want people to look at it and say "wow, that is a nice car".

just for information sake, here is a tidbit i pulled, also if you read the labels on the packages it also says something along these lines...

However, these statutes are primarily focused on original vehicle lightning which must abide by certain rules and regulations set by AAMVA (American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators) such as, ONLY red, white or amber are allowed on a vehicle and these lights must be no brighter than a specific brightness allowed by law, and the lights must be affixed at certain heights. Under these terms, if NEON is installed beneath your vehicle emitted just a glow and the bulb is not visible from front, rear or sides, regardless of color, IT IS 100% LEGAL!

You have every right to have neon lighting because there is no law, in ANY state that prohibits neon lighting.

like i said before, as long as you can't see the bulbs under the car, they are wrong if they ticket you...and bending down to look under the car does not count if they try that s***.

could they ticket you if you are parked and you have your lights on? i mean its only distracting the people who are at a gas station or parking lot

read what i posted, you can even be driving with them on, as long as you can't see the bulbs from the side/front/back of the vehicle its legal...

and the red, white or amber ones have to be a certain brightness or some bulls***, i just wouldn't bother going with those colors to avoid that.

That is a very missleading statement. Yes the lights are perfectly legal, when they are turned on, IF your car is not in motion. If you read the above, at no point does it state it is legal when in motion. That is where the unsafe equipment law comes into play, is when the vehical is in motion. Any time I have looked at the law governing lighting(neons and such) it has said as long as you are not in motion they are legal. The same thing applies to the neon license plate lights you can buy. When you are sitting in a parking lot or they are legal, but as soon as you start down the road, they become a driving infraction and you can/will get a ticket for them in most cases.

Keep in mind that if you file a complaint, you are now making yourself a common target for stops and such. Officers stick up for each other and complaints are not lightly taken in most departments.

Take it to court and let them decide what to do. If you file a complaint, not only are you screwing yourself for the future but you're also screwing yourself in court because they WILL be made aware of the complaint. You've just made that ticket final and you will be paying the fees, without a doubt.
