Ordered a GT28RS

well i originally ordered a je pistons from perfworks.

Seems like that might fall through so i did a charge back and put a deposit on a GT28RS from MAmotorsports. Couldn't pass up the deal.

What i did with the charge back isn't a bad thing right?

I feel so bad. =(

Dude don't fell bad for taking your money back. It's still your money till a transaction has taken place and if you felt apprehensive then taking your money elsewhere is the only thing to do.

Congrats on the new Disco Potato!

Nice, I also am getting that turbo from MAM. Awesome deal huh? Sounds like we will both be having some real fun soon.(rockon)

haha yup, but im no going to be putting it in until i finish the internals. (mj) You have a MPI tuner right? Hows that working out? do you have a widebang hooked up to it?

damn jeff...that's a deal ! well, hurry up and finish those internals so you can get started with that turbo. 'cause ya know, until ya do, that turbo is gonna be a very pretty paperweight

Werd, internals first.

Yes I have the mpi tuner and it is working great. I use the AEM wideband and Apexi EGT. I'm getting it ready to go up to 12-14 tomorrow... What I do is tune it so it's running real rich at the current boost level (10psi currently), and then turn up the boost until it is where I want it. After the boost is set, I lean it out until the AFR is where I want it.

yeah the rs is like 995 or so from MAMA if i am correct. the gt28r is like 7 something.

haha acutally my g/f is going to be using it in her car. Hopefully her dad has enough time to build an exhaust manifold for her. She could also use my stock i/c piping too. Hopefully during one of these race breaks he will be able to do that.

ProPartsUSA.COM - FYI there are 3 variants of the GT28: (28, 28R and 28RS). It is VERY unlikely that it's the RS model. The 28 & 28R require a 2 bolt flange inlet and 3 bolt flange outlet. The 28RS is a slip hose fit time inlet & outlet.

If it is an RS, keep you boost ~5psi and you'll be more then happy with the results before doing engine management or internals. Just make sure you've got the supporting modifications ie: intercooler, exhaust, intake etc to make it efficient power.

sigh.. so the RS model from what your saying is a custom fitment turbo and not a direct bolt on?

I paid 995 for the GT28RS from what MAmotorsports has told me.

around 5 psi? Out here in cali we are running 91. Any way of goin higher on race gas? 100 octane?

i think the confusion started when someone asked what the gt28 cost, you answered 700, then everyone assumed you paid 700 for the turbo, when infact you paid more for a gt28rs, not gt28. It least thats what it looks like if i read over the thread....
