oppinions on a spicy?

Damn Neo that sucks bro. I all reality I say put it stock then Sell it...if you must. You'll have all you aftermarket parts chill'n plus you can either sell them or keep them for your later project. You know the parts you have will get top dollar here.
Do you even have the stock parts?

Don't know your exact situation but if the MSP is paid off keep it. Even if its not keep it and buy a beater and let the MSP be your track car. You have alot of money tied into the MSP and would be a waste to let it go now. Even if you put it to stock and bought one later to put everything in it would end up costing you more.

okay, to make the dilemma a little more understandable:

the car is paid off, I have to sell it if I am going to get another car...I can make the payments to get it running again and then sell it because I would be recouping the payment money in selling the car...but I have to sell it to get another car because while I am at school I need as little additional debt as possible (and another 10k loan for a car is kindof out of the question)

either way I'm selling the car, I'd love to track the msp but I need reliable transportation and a mazdaspeed protege is anything but that...from day 1 I have had over 60% of downtime since

so yea, just need thoughts on if I should use my parts I've got to finish it and then sell it (cheaper but less resale value) or if I should put it back to stock and sell it to finish the project later on....either way I am going to finish the project

so thoughts? option a? option b? lol

So in order to sell it you need to swap motor and tranny??

Seems like you're so close to the point of having a reliable car. I'm around 330whp and soon to be 400whp and "knock on wood" I had downtime of 6 days when I blew my stock 3rd gear the first time waiting for the salvage yard tranny to get to me. Then 5 days to swap in the built motor and swap in my par gears. This has honestly been THE MOST RELIABLE CAR even with what I've thrown at it "knock on wood again"!!

haha, while there was once a time that I would have agreed with you, I do not agree with you about this car being reliable....I've owned this car since februaryish of 2007 (almost 2 years now) and out of that entire time I have had 11 months of total downtime (yes, 11 months total, I'm not even exaggerating it)

if I had better funding I would be okay with it, but my funding doesn't allow me to fix something when it breaks right away, it takes me time to build up the money to fix it and then waiting for the parts to come in and then having to find time to fix it...and as of the 3rd I cannot afford even two days of downtime because I will need to be in the valley and the bay area alternating almost every other day for work and school, so I need reliable transportation (mainly because there is simply no means of trains, busses, etc... that fits around my schedule to take me all the way out there, I can only get halfway through that system)

believe me I'd love to keep this car, but it simply is not possible to do so anymore

in order to sell I do need to fix or swap the motor, the transmission I only want to swap because I have a quaife lsd and cryo treated gears and it is worth more out of the car than in the car if I am selling (for one) and if I keep the build and sell the car I don't want to dump over $2000 to upgrade the transmission again at a later date...so yea I need to swap both (as well as piece together a stock msp turbo kit)

why dont you buy like a 500 dollar hoop-d and keep building it?

$500 hoopties are not very reliable most of the time.
Unless you find a geo prism (rebadged Corolla) Toyota tercel. I do agree that he may want to just get another car and store the Spicy, but he may not have a place to store atleast not free. I will say that if you end up keeping the spicy and getting a commuter car, if something happens to the commuter car you have the spicy in the wings to fill in till the beater gets fixed.

edit: or else you might as well have a partout.

lol, because the truth is that I am ready to be done with this car...I'm tired of fixing it's problems and I'm tired of having to deal with it failing on me when I need it most (it usually fails when all of my friends are back in town, and I have no way to get to town lol...or when I need to get to work, etc...)....I don't want to keep this car for a prolonged period of time, (and I also want to take advantage of the market being at a low as well), and it is time to move on

keeping the car is pretty well out of the question, but in any case I made up my mind today on how I'm getting rid of it and I think I'm just going to part it out and use the funds from that to throw a stock motor in it...keep an eye in the for sale area soon

haha, thanks

but another note is that I have replaced every mazdaspeed engine part on the car with aftermarket....minus the suspension, but that was on my list as well....why should I keep a car because it has a mazdaspeed vin number and spicy orange paint, when it is worth 8-10k and holds no differences compared with a base 3rd gen? (considering I kept my build and such to put in the base 3rd gen)

Neox dont mean to come off as a scavenger but if by any define miracle u do part out, Dibs on the t.Life fmic. Again sorry to hear the situation your in, I felt the same away about 3 months ago I wanted to get rid of the msp so bad, I ended rebuilding her as we speaks she sits at a shop waiting for the forged internals. Its been sitting in the shop for 3 months now luckily im driving my bro's srt-4 meanwhile.

if I part out the intercooler will likely go with the t3/t4 and other turbo parts together as a kit....but if I have any trouble selling it I'll let you know (thumb)

Neox

i look at it as that you so stubborn in power instead of class that you probably have a grudge or some kind of wanting that will make you no better than anything that we've seen. you want to be the uooo ahhh of the generation...

no problem. but having a MSP in general (regardless of color (talk about profiling a car)) its all about taste and yea you got one fast spicy or msp etc, its not about you got the fastest ever built bestest of all bestest cars. feel me?

keep the spicy, potential is endless. but respect and people following your footsteps on making a car like yours is legend. im following a current member i find a legend. Supman, sorry for his loss but i want to bring back what i have and he has lost to keep the legend alive. and everybody to see, it don't matter, it gives them a happy face. they all like to see beauty at its best.

so go on with your urge, but your wrong. and i can't say anything more, you do what you want but i know i said some deep words. take it or or leave it.

sell it if you want. /

lol, I appreciate the words and I know you didn't mean any harm by them....but I never said I was trying to outdo anyone or trying to be faster than anyone on the forum

I'm a performance minded individual, I don't really care what anyone else thinks of my car visually or performance wise to be honest....I am stubborn in that I want a car with power, and let's face it the msp doesn't have that when stock....it can put out the power I want, and I can make it put that power out easily since I already have all the parts, but its not reliable

I'm not trying to prove myself, nor trying to make my car or myself a legend by any means....yea I've done some work on the car, but that doesn't mean I know everything and that doesn't mean anyone should look up to my car or myself
