Opinions on HID kits

and I've yet to hear of a melted plug or anything once switching to HID's either

Actually, going ot HID's gets rid of the eletrical grimmlin that eats driver's side headlight halogen bulbs

I wish it was the driver's side on mine. Every time (maybe 3 times since 04) I've lost one it was the damn passenger side where you have to do the contortion master thing with your hands to get it replaced.

why don't you just trim the bottle neck down an inch or two?

Speaking of which, I'll have a pair of Silverstars for sale soon, not sure if I want to sell both my low/high beams or just my lows. I've pretty much read that the high beams become useless. Anyone have both HID low and high beams?

i'd keep the silverstar high beams, they'll never go out, and, yes, i did use my high's even with the HID's as i had my HID low's aimed REALLY low and they still worked fine

As Tylor said, keep the high's. They don't burn out like the H7's for some reason. I too have the Silverstar's in my high beams and they work fine when I do have to use them.

Stay away from an HID kit for the high beams. That will pretty much render them useless due to the time for them to fire up, especially if you keep turning them on/off due to oncoming traffic.

Quick question re: HID's. Any idea how they will run on canadian cars as we have to have daytime running lights which in the p5 are the low beams at reduced power?

I have the bottom kit, just got it installed actually and its great. The slim ballast made them easy to put in. They look awsome too.

for the op's question.. i dont know if anyone answered it but i am also in the process of buying the raptor kit and ddm told me that there is no difference between the 2. The only difference is that the raptors have 1 year warranty and the other has lifetime.. thats the only difference.

also post some pics of how the fogs look like

you need to disable the DRL's or it won't work

could you explain that??(uhm)

Yeah, it is truly insane. I absolutely love it.

I went with the 55w kit and jebus is it bright.

ok alright it's because i heard the 55w could overheat because of the small space inside the fogs or something i was just wondering. Also, is it true that the the 55w look less blue, like 8000k 55w would look like 6000k 35w ?? because that's also what i heard thx

I drive mostly in the country. And having the HIDs as High Beams, I thought would be awesome. I don't want to get HID Low Beams, cause I don't want to blind other drivers. So is there another way to get the HID equivalent in High Beams without the charge time?

You don't blind other drivers if you aim your low beams, I aimed mine and I get 3x more light than Halogen bulbs and don't blind anybody.

HID's require time to warmup, and can fail prematurely if turned on and off before they are warmed up. This will be an issue if you use high beams since you might have to turn them on and off frequently. You will kick yourself for not getting HID low beams.

Yes. I have a 55w 4300k kit on the mazda and a 35w 4300k kit on the contour and when parked next to each other the contour looks blue and dim. The extra power makes the 4300 whiter and so much nicer.
