Opinions on HID kits

There is still plenty of blue tint in the 6000k kit. I haven't been flashed yet in the country with them, so I'd guess I have them aimed properly. They're no worse than any other HID conversions, hell, some factory HIDs are way more intense (Escalade comes to mind)...

Just did the 35w 6000k kit with the silver ballasts. Easy install, great output over the halogens. Got them aimed where they're good for me & no flashing from others. Best 52.00 I've spent on the car in quite awhile if not ever.

I drive mostly in the country. And having the HIDs as High Beams, I thought would be awesome. I don't want to get HID Low Beams, cause I don't want to blind other drivers. So is there another way to get the HID equivalent in High Beams without the charge time?

What Matt said. Just be sure to adjust your lo-beams after install and you'll be set.

You don't blind other drivers if you aim your low beams, I aimed mine and I get 3x more light than Halogen bulbs and don't blind anybody.

HID's require time to warmup, and can fail prematurely if turned on and off before they are warmed up. This will be an issue if you use high beams since you might have to turn them on and off frequently. You will kick yourself for not getting HID low beams.

So, 35w H3 kit for fogs? And do you remove that hood thing in front of the bulb or leave it?

ok alright it's because i heard the 55w could overheat because of the small space inside the fogs or something i was just wondering. Also, is it true that the the 55w look less blue, like 8000k 55w would look like 6000k 35w ?? because that's also what i heard thx

If you don't wish to disable the DRL module, you will need to purchase the relay harness which will draw the additional power from the battery when only using the DRL's. In effect this will mean that your HID's will be operating all the time. When you switch on your headlights it will just turn on your tail and matker lights as your HID's will already be on and warmed up. Make sense?

Here's one of my posts earlier in this thread.

Ok, I think I'll just bite the bullet aswell and get HID Low beams. And get something like Sylvania Ultra for High beams.

yup totally makes sense. If i use the relay harness, is it hard to install? what would happen if the HIDs were working on the DRL? and is this the relay harness you're talking about? : http://www.ddmtuning.com/index.php?p=product&id=133&parent=94

Yup that's the relay harness. It is very easy to install, they come with pretty good instructions but I can take some pics of my engine bay if it will help you(just gimmie a few days)? The HID's wont fire up while using DRL's only, they only get supplied 7v in that case and will flicker and shut off, they need a 12v supply to start up and remain on. I purchased the relay harness for my car (Surrey, BC) and it works like a charm! No problems, HID's fire up when e-brake is released (like DRL's would).

Yeah I can get you some pics...but it'll have to wait until I get some days off. As for the fogs....well I'm not sure? I would assume you don't need it because it's simply just on (12v) or off (0v) for those bulbs.

You will need to ground the driver side part of the relay harness....but the instructions that come with and the pics I will send you should make that a no brainer.

No worries about the questions....that's what this board is for!

oh yeah you're right i thought the fogs were on the DRL too but they're not. I'll be waiting for your pics and no prob for the waiting i don't even have the HIDs I'm just looking/preparing before i buy them... ill probably buy them in a few weeks or so.

You can always do the foglight mod and use the fogs as the DRL's

that way you put less stress on the HID's all day every day

Sorry i didn't get back to you on the relay earlier.

and what picsyou wanting for?
