one more thing, sorry guys

ahh now that im awake. i was looking for an hks ssqv. yeah mos definatly compressor surge. thats like running a stock bypass, they just cant flow enough air (usally) to make the psssh. Youtube mazdaspeed protege turkey. Alot of them sound like that.

yeah, but that thing is making a LOT of noise... the SSQV should flow PLENTY... I've got one on my car, and I still have a bit of turkey, but I believe its due to my low vacuum (still trying to find the leak!) above all I think a boost gauge is needed to diagnose this.

robyn , read the how to kill my turkey tread on hear, and this will solve your problem !!!!!!
there are a few things to check, but that what it sounds like to me

It sounds to me like the BPV.... either a bad valve or a really loose spring. So it open, closed, open, closed, etc. really fast on each decompression. A quick check would be to throw the old one back on. Then she should get a more conventional turkey sound.

The more I think about it, the more I think I had it bass-ackwards.... the spring may be too stiff. As soon as boost pressure opens it and a little pressure is released it snaps shut til pressure rebuilds and opens it again... etc.
