OMG! 2003 Hyundai Tiburon will **** US!

I test drove a black Tiburon a few weeks ago and it was pretty surprising. It had a fair amount of power and the transmission was easy to use except for the rediculously short gears from 1st thru 3rd, and it was pretty damn fun to drive. There was little to no body roll in hard cornering, and the car felt nice and tight with no rattles or strange noises while driving down a fairly rough road. Nice engine note, with a pretty aggressive exhaust note for a factory car. Good stuff. :)

With every option available, they said I could walk out the door for $19,750 with tax. A good deal in my opinion.... It is worth a look for sure, and no one can complain about the warranty. :)

I don't think it's bad looking...but our mp3s certainly turn more heads. It just kind of makes me dissapointed in mazda for giving us a lousy 140hp.

yeah it's a pretty cool car...especially the 6-speed...i don't thnk it looks that bad and it's definitely an improvement on the last tiburon...but still it's a hyundai and still not exactly my first choice of car makers...but starting to improve...lol

It's not as ugly as it used to be. This year's model actually looks kinda good, especially compared to the previous design. Yuck!

I think some of you guys may be forgetting that it has an underpowered V6 in it. Hyundia's V6 is doing what other companies 4 cylinders can already do. If it had 210 on th3 V6, then I'd call it a good fast car, but the 2.7 liter 181hp V6 just doesn't excite me. I think I need to test drive one before I draw my final thoughts out completely, but the Sentra Spec V was by far the torquest sport compact I've ever driven.

It looks like a mini supra, need I say more? That will attract lots of kiddies to buy it and put "Supra" emblems on it

My 3 series has an "underpowered" inline 6 with only 2.5 liters and 171hp, but I still get 0-60 times around 7 seconds. That's enough to excite me.

Correct me if i'm wrong but, i think what Apexistud is trying to say is that it's not really impressive 181hp out of 2700literscubic inch of displacement V6engine. you can as well get 170++++hp or more from a smaller motor of an 4-banger. for instance:

Toyota Celica GT-S 1.8l 180-horsepower
Acura RSX Type-S 2.0l 200-horsepower
Acura Integra GS-R and Type-R 1.8l 170-195 horsepower
Subaru Impreza WRX 2.0lHO 227 horsepower
Honda S2000 2.0l 240 horsepower
Nissan Sentra Spec V 2.5l 175 horsepower

Now of course i would compare the Tiburon GT-V6 2.7l to

Mitsubishi eclipse GT 3.0l V-6 200hp
Honda Accord EX-V6 3.0l V-6 200hp
Ford mustang base 3.8l V-6 200hp
Chevy Camaro base 3.8l V-6 200hp

I agree that it is not impressive, but you can say the same thing about our engines. 130/140 hp is not impressive for a 2.0 liter 4-cylinder or is 170hp from a 2.5 liter inline 6.

I guess the point that I am trying to make is that there is more to a great car than it's engine. For me, the secret to a great car is balance - the combination of a great engine that's fun to drive, great interior with supportive seats, steering that communicates the road to the driver and handling that inspires confidence is all situations. Bonus points are added for styling and build quality.

This is one of the reasons that I love my Protege5.

I agree our motors HP is not all that impressive when you consider the direct competition its up against. But for the average 4 cylinder, it's normal and it's certainly better than Honda EM 01-up Civics numbers.

Coolest thing is that our motor doesn't die out when you turn on the AC like in all Honda Civics.

Now would you guys rather have what you have right now, relatively low compression (perfect for boost) and a moderate amount of HP, or a high compression high reving eninge that puts out more power, but doesn't respond well to boost?
