Has anyone else taken theirs apart? I took it out, took all the screws out, but the carpeted particle board was glued to the plastic, so I never got to see the sub itself. Has anyone broken the glue out and taken a look inside?

You can't pull the s*** apart too easily...besides. Why not just spend the money on my intake, or towards snow rims, or something. I'd go with the JL but in a battle between free and 120$...free will always win. Until I'm rich...:D

03SpeedLSD PM'd me with this:

If you pull the grill out, there are 6-8 screws that hold the sub in place. I have taken it out to look at it. It is a SVC sub. Kinda bad if you ask me...Later

I haven't done it yet (don't want to **** it up if they're going to replace it) but I will in the future just to see what's inside. I can always get a new grill if I **** it up.

JL 8W0 goes in there perfectly and sound a s*** load better
another thing is check the cross over on the amp im a installer and that is one of the first things i checked on when i bought my car and it was on full-range that can kill a sub quick make sure its on the 'LP'

Thanks OrangeMSP! I'll check the amp this afternoon! :D

what about the elemental deisgns a series. They are high quality and pretty thin from what i heard. So it could maybe fit up in the box nicely.......

Ok, this really ****** blows! I had to call the dealership to find out if they found anything out about what they're doing with my non-working sub. The guy tells me, contrary to what he told me yesterday, that they'll need my car again to do 'further testing' to see if they can find out what the problem is because Mazda told them that there have been no reported problems with the subwoofers so far! :wtf: is that? I told him I'll print out this thread and show him how many people have had trouble with them, and that Mazda knows about it. He gave me the BS about only reading the "corporate" sites and there's nothing on there.

So now I have to decide if I want them to have my car for a day to "test" it more, then have it for another day to install the new one, or just go out and buy a new sub for it. The dealership is not close to my house or my work, so it's a pain in the ass every time I have to go there (not to mention that I dislike that dealership because I had my deposit down there for 4 months and ended up buying the car from a dealer in IL because he had one for me the next damn day).

Stupid delaerships ...

i hate your dealership for the both of us. hopefully mine wont be this way

Damn Albert...your dealership blows! I tested it, told them over the phone, dropped it off to be checked the next day, they verified my results while I was at work, called me around 2:00 and said it's ready, but we have to order the enclosure. It doesn't matter if Mazda knows or doesn't about the problem. It's your car and if it's causing a problem the warranty stands. They should fix it...jackasses!

On a lighter note, I got the call yesterday (after about 1.5 weeks) that my enclosure arrived. Dropping car off sunday night to have work done monday. Wee!!

Also...there's several settings to check. On the amp check your sensitivity. That should not be cranked too high. Make sure LPF if set (it should be). The other setting is the Bass Q on the head. 1st MP3 has noted that it will cause distortion above zero level.
Check here to see recommended settings
