What up guys. just want to se how many people out there are running joes fpr after the.....drum roll please......FLASH =).

Having any problems with it? detonation? has it helped the surging caused by the massive amount of fuel getting dumped?

I have the FPR but never got around to installing it. So I too would like to hear from anyone running with the FPR post flash.

:)

What do you want to know? I've had mine installed for months but I'm going to take it off and see if it changes anything. Just gotta find a plug for that hole now....

I just left mine on for the flash
- shrug -

having no problems but I haven't taken it off to see if there is any noticeable difference

ok, well thats the sort of info I was looking for. There is concern that it may cause detonation by leaning the A/F mix too much.

To tell you the truth, I'm not sure exactly how joe's fpr actully works?? But I THINK it only leans out the higher rpms (where the fuel problem is). Joe care to chime in??

I left mine on when I got the flash and drove it that way for a few days. Took it off and drove it for a few days. Didn't notice any difference in mileage or power either way, so I put it back on and have driven 3000 miles since. No problem with detonation and I run 87 octane gas.

Well if it doesn't make any difference after the flash, there is no point in putting it on if I haven't already. Guess that's one more thing to add to the For Sale thread.

Well if theres no noticable diff then it would make sense to leave it off I think. I put my JoeP MBC on today and when it spikes over 10psi I hit the fuel cut. I thought the FPR might make a difference.

The only reason I left mine on is I figured the holes are there. and I would have to plug them up, so I might as well save myself the trouble and leave it on. My car is still very rich with it on, so I'm not worried about it. Also, the best gas I can get here is 91 octane. I tried 91 and 89 during the summer and didn't have any problems in 110 degrees, so I feel pretty safe running 87 now that the weather has cooled off.

With 87 I can almost guarantee that you are knocking. 91 Should be the lowest that you go. Just because you can't hear it doesn't mean you aren't knocking. I hope your not running high boost as well!

It only leans out while under boost. It leaves normal cruise alone.

OK, here's my .02... If the car does not detonate with the FPR post flash, then you would be better off with it as the flash only added timing and supposedly did nothing for fuel- the car is still too rich. I am willing to bet it would still be worth a few ponies regardless.. Probably 5-10hp- possibly a bit more.

Yeah, I always make sure I look at the octane # of the pump I grab when I fill up just to make sure what you're doing right now never happens.

Hey Joe (or anyone else who would care to answer)

Question from newbie tuner here:

How can I tell if my car is detonating? I did a search and some people say you can hear it, and others say you can't. So what's the deal? How can I check to see if my car is detonating. I just got the flash today, and still have my FPR installed.

Also, with the colder copper plugs, and boosting to 10psi, do you think I'm at risk of engine going boom with both flash AND FPR installed?
