best way to pick your oil is to try it and monitor it. Run regular oil, see if it's breaking down in 3-5K or if it's getting burnt. If you smoke, try 5-40 over the 5-30. If the oil seems to break down by 3k then switch to synth, etc. I laugh at anyone who runs synth and changed the oil every 3K under the false assumption it will somehow be better for your engine. If the oil is not breaking down or burning, then you are throwing away money by replacing it with synthetic.
