Anyone know how much the stealerships generally charge to change our oil. Im going to pick up pennzoil plat. for it and i was going to get the filter and have another place change it that i used to take my old car to.Now if the stealership isnt bad pricing then i might as take it there.

its cool doesnt bother me. Guess i will making a call tomorrow to the dealer.

Or you could do it yourself for the price of the oil and filter. Depending on what oil you're using and if you happen to find a deal (for instance Advance Auto frequently does "oil change specials" with a filter and 4-5qts of synthetic oil for $25) you could pay way less than the dealer charges.

I still can't understand people who own performance vehicles not doing their own oil changes.(dunno)

Even if you live an apartment, or an urban environment, you have to know at least one person with a garage/driveway you could use.

I have never changed my own oil. I would like to start doing so but I am afraid too. lol

Those of us with lowered vehicles don't have the luxury of getting ramps and rigging it so it will even clear the ramp, it's just not worth the time when you can just sit there wait 30 minutes and wa la it's ready to go...sides I'm trying to do my part to jump start the economy....

No need to be scurred...the most difficult and time-consuming part is removing the windage tray to get to the drain plug and filter. DIY oil changes can really save you money. Or equal out nicely if you go synthetic like I do.

This is funny cuz you bought a mazda

I know mechanics that don't even change their own oil. For me, it just isn't worth the time and hassle. I pay $60 for a full synth oil change with a hand wash and towel dry. It takes about 20 minutes total. To me, that's absolutely worth it.

I was referring to spending money for the oil change at the dealer.
