i was at the dealer today and they claim that the noise is coming from the bottom end.. and they told me to get recipes of all my oil changes but heres the kicker.. i do all my own oil changes and i buy my oil from walmart.. so i need a oil change log... if anyone can help me out i would repay you via pay pal.... just pm me.. my miles are 53158 thanks

I used to work with a guy who did all his oil changes on his Hyundai himself and had the same problem, he had no records or reciepts. The 100,000 mile warranty went down the drain because of it.
I do all of my own oil changes as well and we just got our CX 7 recently. I will definately keep records of oil changes from now on.

I buy the oil from walmart but I buy the oem filter from Mazda, so I have a receipt from that every time. I just keep the mazda receipts together.... What are they going to tell me that I'm buying filters but not changing the oil???

Mazda has their own on-line site I use to keep tract of my oil changes and other service. I went to the Mazda.com site and signed up ( you put your vehicle in as My Mazda) and keep track there. Mazda inputs the service they do in that record. I DIM oil changes so I keep all receipts for backup. Without receipts, I think the dealer is justified in voiding warranty work. Ed

i keep all my oil and filter receipts in a file folder. I also keep a spreadsheet for the log. I can send you my log if you'd like to see it.

if i every get questioned, i'll just drop the folder of loose reciepts and tell them to have at it...

I know this is old, but good info for others - Unless they can deem the failure to be maintenance related, they cannot hold you accountable for not producing a maintenance log for say, your timing chain stretching which is not a maintenance related failure. If your lower end is knocking and you spun a rod and/or main bearing, you're up s**** creek without a paddle if you cannot produce those documents.

Here in Aus, we have a government body thats looks after the regulations in regards to servicing and warranty. You have to be a qualified, competent person to do servicing, I am lucky (Diesel Fitter) I can being able to carry out the work, as long as the components are of the equal standard or better (Oil & Oil Filter), You need to keep the receipts for everything and the servicing book is completed correctly. They, Mazda have one thing over me, with my 2011 diesel sports, they have a computer program to rest the DPF filter each service, so it costs me $66 to get this done at my local Mazda dealer.
