Oil change intervals

I know this has been discussed before but i thought i'd gather some info from fellow N/A people.
I've been under the impression that it is fine to change mobil 1 10w30 every 6-7k miles granted the car doesn't eat oil. Is this true? How often do you people with FS engines change your oil? What do you consider right?

I use synthetic oil and change my oil twice a year (fall and spring). I usually end up needing half a quart between changes. I drive roughly 15k miles / year...

in AZ, i had to change at 3K intervals. way too dirty to go to even 5K on synthetic. so every 3 months or 3K miles, it was oil change time. the only time i stretched it to 5K to see what it looked like, it scared me. the oil was completely black and the filter had non-metallic particulates in it. so i guess it all depends on your driving conditions as well as driving style.

i change my oil every 3000 miles too. makes me feel better having fresh oil every once in a while. but since you use mobil 1 synthetic it's probably okay to change it every 6k-7k miles. you have to factor in your driving habits too so if ya drive harder maybe change it a little sooner.

I use Mobil 1 5W-30 and change every 5-6000 miles, about every 2.5 months.

i use full synthethic, so i could go for 5000 miles, but i still change it at 3k just in case

Can't say i am a very harsh driver, but i like reving high.... So i don't know.... So far it seems like 5k is fine....

My oil is Red Line synthetic 10W-30. I change oil and filter every 5000 miles.

CONSIDERING HOW MUCH WE SPEND ON GAS, IS IT REALLY THAT BAD TO SPEND 20-30 DOLLARS EVERY 3000MI TO CHAnGE YOUR MOBIL 1? I THINK IT IS WELL WORTH IT.

Whenever it really starts looking bad. Usually 6-7K with Mobil1 5W-30. Which is about every 6 weeks or so. I use a Mazda 626 oil filter, which is slightly larger for a little extra filter life also.

Mike, which 626 are you talking about v6 or with the 2.0 FS engine (same as ours)?

The KL V6 filters will fit FS...I think that is what he was talking about...a 626 2.5l V6 oil filter will fit the FS, and is considerably larger than the stock filter...

I'm every 3k as well. I don't care, because the dealer usually does it for cheaper than the coupons, so it's fine w/me. Plus they like to see the "new stuff" I have on it hehe.

BTW, I've been changing oil every 3K, and for me that's like every month, so I'm going to extend that to 5K and see how it looks and feels. I'm using Mobil1 10w30 with Purolator filters.
