Offsets and Back Spacing???

I know I can fit 18x8,s but what offset range and back spacing do I need.

Like 18x8, 48mm offset, 5x114 (<---) that Is the number I need to know.

These are my options:

18x7.5 5 114.3 37/42mm and 5 100 48mm

18x8.0 5 120 35mm and 5 112 35mm and 5 100 35mm

Thanks

I think you may be confused on how offsets work-

Lower offset wheels will stick out more,

Higher offsets will be tucked under the fender more.

A 42mm offset would absolutely not need a spacer, i fact that would make it probably stick out too far on this car without rolling your fenders or something.

Thankyou I was confused.

This in incorrect!

There are 2 types of offset, positive and negative both measured from the wheel center line. Moving toward the road (+) or from the wheel center line toward the hub (-). A +48mm offset is closer to the hub (or under the fender more) over a +53mm offset(which moves closer to the fender).

Hope this helps

The RX8 OEM wheel is a 18x8 +53mm I have them on my MS3 and the are just about flush with the inner fender wall! I woul say that if you go with a 18x8 you would be happy with a +48 to +53 mm offset

YOu also have to consider wheel width when looking at offset.
If a 18x7 and an 18x 8 both have a 50mm Offset...the wheels placement in the wheel well is affected by the width.

They would both have the 50mm Backspacing..but some of the Extra 12.7 mm on the 8'' wide wheel would be pushed toward the inside and some toward the outside.

SO a 7.5 with a +42 will have 137.25mm of the total wheel width from the hub mounting surface to the rear of the rim(inside)
An 8'' wide wheel with a +42mm Offset will have 143.6mm of the wheels total width from the hub mounting to the rear of the rim.

Thats an addition of 6.35mm to the width on the inside (1/4"aprx.) and an addition of nearly the same to the outer.
If you wanted to keep one the same as the original size..you have to compensate accordingly with the offset.

For example...a +36 offset would keep the original rear spacing ..But would put the extra half inch on the outer of the rim.

It gets kind of confusing if you don't mess with it too much.

Man I hope I wrote all of this right....It even makes my head spin sometimes..and I actually know how to do this.

Well said!!!(first)

that being said, whats the LOWEST offset you can run on a MS3? going for the flush look.
