Official Exhaust Thread

YUP, 4-1. Fitment was not an issue at all. EGR pipe lined up perfectly, lined up perfectly on the head as well as at the midpipe.

I did just remove it though due to the frequencey of the drone at highway speeds when combined with the magnaflow. The tone it hit was just right to give my wife a headache, so, i am stock again.

Another problem i had with the OBX is if your rear motor mount is wearing or worn, REPLACE IT!! Cause, with the stock header/cat setup, there is a bracket that is holding the precat in place. The OBX does not have that so it rattles the entire exhaust setup. If you've got a new good motor mount, it shouldn't be an issue

alrights cool thanks dude that helps
and krap i need new motor mounts

For my 03 P5 i have a 2.25 Magnaflow cat back......although i haven't had a chance to put in on yet i am just gnawing away at the first chance i get.
Although seeing as how im up in B.C. and for late model cars air care isn't a most (apparently) i wanna pull the cat and put a straight pipe through :D
except i can't decide on which style of header i should go with

I love my magnaflow. I had an OBX for the header with stock midpipe and it caused some good drone. So I sold it. I then regreted it, so, i now hve a Ractive header waiting to be installed. I might borrow a highflow midpipe from a buddy just to see how loud it actually gets

thanks dxaveP5, how do you like yours?

its good for looks and the not loudness.
But if ur goin for the performance choose Racing Beat.
its def. worth ur money. But i got no money and i just want my car to be lookn clean, and stock look, cause this car isnt gona be with me for long.
ima be gettin a new car in a couple years.
But great sound tho, and i drive 55mph on the highway, so drones are not a problem for me (drones at round 70-80mph as i was told)

Anyone want to hear what a fully stock exhaust + ractive header with no muffler sounds like? (I pulled the crap Mazdaspeed sport whatever axleback off to trade for a stocker in prep for, sigh, selling the car in the upcoming months)

Why? It sounded fine (as fine as a mazdaspeed sport axleback can sound) before taking off the muffler. It was fantastic with the Mazdaspeed Protege exhaust. Notice: no axleback...

And to be fair, for an inline 4 cylinder engine, you should only be buying 1 header anyway... (boom07)

did you by chance start the car when you installed the header with no exhaust attached to it? now THAT is loud. i drove around the block, i almost went deaf and my neighbours thought the apocalype was coming.

i'll have to post a vid of my new exhaust setup. i've got ractive 4-1 header and will be installing a MP3 racing beat axleback this week. unfortunately the rest of the piping is stock, but i like some low end to be left over.

I did open header on the Miata while it was still up on jackstands last winter. Yeah... that was ridiculous LOL
