noob shifter<

ok i only been driving stick about a week but i have a question,

When i try to shift from 1st to second almost every single time i have trouble getting the stick into the second gear i almost have to go to neutral and then to second or i just jam it realyl hard from first to second.. Is this a normal thing i have to just get used to cuzmultiple times i have missed second gear so bad and redlined esp when tryin to pick up lots of speed. As for 2nd to 3rd etc its smooth as can b :bs:

Its a common problem with the pro's, just hesitate a sec and it will go right in.

Are you also sayin its not smooth from 2nd to 3rd. if so it is probally ur synchro's.

Get some synthetic Tranny fluid, this might help a lilttle

You shouldn't have too much problems getting it into 2nd. In my MP3 I notice theres a little hesitation in it when going from 1st to 2nd. Its been so long since I have driven a different manual that can't recall if its common or not.

Basically when flying in first, I just gently(but quickly) slide it into second. It sticks for maybe 1/2- 3/4 a second, and then off goes the clutch and I'm gone

As for missing second gear... Did you not get it into gear and red lined in neutral?

As to synchro problems, I'm not the man to ask. Not as knowledgable as many people on these forums yet!

OMG he's gonna rip it out. Dude dont get high enought to be able to redline if you miss 2nd. For real get used to it first. My mp3 was my first car and I ripped my first tranny out in a few monthes. Take it easy.

start pumping iron! Its just a very mechanical fealling shifter, which is good. Be firm with that shift lever show it who's boss!!! but dont slam on it too hard

Don't force it. Just keep the clutch in and a reasonable pressure on the lever 'till the sycros work it out for you and then it will go into 2nd.

o god lol yea i realized i need to take it easy for a while.. i just got back from drivin and it seems to be getting a little smoother for me
